I really only like a few songs from the album. 2 of which are some of her best Love Is A Game and To Be Loved are incredible but the rest is kinda mid/boring, also the voice recordings over a lot of the tracks ruined them making them unlistenable nobody wants to hear those over and over.

True but Taylor hasnโ€™t promoted Lover and Folklore in years yet theyโ€™re still in the Top 100.

Well yes, but Taylor's primary audience also consumes their music almost solely through streaming which is a theoretically endless โ€œsaleโ€ metric. Adele's primary audience still tends to buy physical media which very much is a finite sales metric.ย

ย

This is Adele's first album in the streaming era, and she didn't adapt to that. Her emphasis remained where it always has and that was physical sales. The issue that creates for her is that people tend to only buy an album once so longer an album is out, the more it's sales go down. In streaming, a stream is a โ€œsaleโ€ so the sales possibility is essentially unlimited which allows Lover and folklore and the like to have longevity. Notice those albumโ€™s physical sales are now incredibly low since theyโ€™ve been out for so long, but they chart well because streaming continues to carry them.ย

ย

30's streams on non-singles are mediocre and it's because she made no effort to get the streaming audience to stream the album.ย

We have been over this. ย It is not a good album. ย Letโ€™s move on because the public sure has. ย

Easy on Me was great but also didnโ€™t expand her into new territory.

ย

I think a lot of Adeleโ€™s sales came from bandwagoners who wanted their iTunes library/music choices to be seen as โ€œlegitimateโ€.

They no longer need to fake it in the streaming era though. You can just pretend you listened to the album on release week when you really didnโ€™t.

Huh? Folklore sold more pure copies than 30 in US.ย

She didnt even try. After the OMG video dropped, she's like "I'M OUTTA HEREEE!" :swim2:

In other words, at this moment, folkloreโ€™s pure sales are much, much lower than they were when the album was new because thatโ€™s what pure sales do over time. And yet, the album is still charting very well because streaming continues to carry it even when pure sales go down which is not happening with Adele.ย

I never made any claim that Adele outsold Taylor.ย

Nobody cares about Adele in 2022. Pre-30 I wouldn't have believed it if someone said that but here we are.

She literally had a 10 week number 1 hit that easily could have been 15 weeks.ย :rip:

Contrary to what many seem to believe, you've got to actually promote and push an album for it to sell.ย

You definitely don't.ย

Yep, she made sure she was not releasing "music for tiktok"ย

Girl, it's at 1.6m right now. It sold less than Folklore, an abandoned era that didnt even have a singleย

because she gave up on it

ย

but her hyde parks could give it a boost. its weird they left OMG out to dry like that and hope they release CIGI but the window might have passed on that one :psyduck:

And yet, 30 probably outsold that album by that 2013 relic in its first week alone.

It's getting tiring.

Artists of Adele's caliber don't have to promote, girl.ย

Not an excuse. If the music was good, people would be streaming it.ย

Can't release the same album 4 times and expect them all to stick
