They should create a "how long can you take before leaving the screening?" trend for JFAD. Maybe this can help the sales a bit.

I was worried about this  It was the same way during Mean Girls. 

My friend said it looked like it was a lady gaga concert. There's no reason for a movie like this to have musical scenes.

what do we think the original storyline was? with the elevator scene being cut and the psychotic stair scene... do you guys think there's an edit of her actually killing him at the stairs? or do you think she just walks off like the edit is now but stops at the top and performs that's entertainment to spite him? i'm just so confused and pissed her entire development arc was cut because she has NO FUNCTION and the movie has NO ******* PLOT because of her missing arc. arthur already has an established arc and he's just ooga booga courtroom gooning ah freak but she was SOOOO gonna be an instigating evil little B**CH and they just made her tame and insanely (no pun intended) BORING sigh. and she really truly ate the acting up. and no one will see past the horrible movie to recognize her good acting. ok i'm done fuming i'm gonna go a second time and watch it with my boyfriend because the screenings are EMPTIH and he's intrigued by the slander and wants a good laugh

I'm not sure what it was, but honestly, having her become the Joker would've made for a more interesting and compelling storyline. The deconstruction of Arthur and the rise of Harleen would've been fascinating. Instead, we got no real character development for her and a half-baked story for him.

 

The way we thought JFAD will be the absolute smash, only to end up being the biggest critical failure of the year.

I do remember getting second hand embarrassment in the very first singing part (where Arthur does it in front of the TV) but then I felt better when it was shown he was just imagining that nn

The one part I think really didn't need it was when he was calling her and was singing to the answering machine  Thank goodness it showed that she was listening; that could've been trimmed

The fact that they insinuated that Gaga was a man all along at the end takes me TF out. It really was the icing on the cake for me. Also the insinuation that the whole film was in Arthur's mind was so predictable. Gaga's last scene tho when she just abruptly walks off when she was supposed to dance on the stairs LMAO. Also if the original ending was Gaga killing Joker the incel fans would start a riot.

At the very least, she almost surely saw the final cut some time ago, knew that the edit of her role wasn't the tea, and was preparing to move on relatively quick. 

for her, I think its a smart move! She still gets publicity and eyeballs on her that will linger for LG7's single so its smart to capitalize any positive benefits she can get
