I keep going back to that one critic that said that it seems the movie was bad on purpose. Because the editing girl... Do y'all remember that Mr Bean movie where they were screening a movie in the film and it was all about the lead actor and the girl in the movie got her scene cut when she's walking with an umbrella on the bridge past the leading actor? That's exactly what Gaga's scenes felt like. It's so obvious they were cut because the editing is so bad whenever she's on screen especially her last scene LMAO.

The most random thing my bf said once the credits started rolling was "Well, if we consider it a Gaga video, it's surely a fabulous one!"

 

Don't know if he was joking, still gave him a good head at the end of the night though

Feels like this is gonna smash international box offices if we go by this, Mexico, and Italy so far. If the US can stay over $50M, it'll be a critical failure but do alright from a commercial lens. 

I'm literally not bothered one bit by the film panning 

 

Like, her acting has been praised by multiple critics, and Todd deserves all the lashing for butchering her role and the film overall.

I wouldn't expect much. Word of mouth is so bad right now it will probably drop to 0.5 cents next week.

Also, Close To You and Happy Mistake rising on Spotify!  I feel like the album may exceed expectations a bit too. Who knows. It's still #2 on iTunes, rose a bit on AM and the performance will probably also help.

Yeah, many people will see it this weekend, but no one will want to see it next week because of bad word of mouth. 

if this can get somewhat close to 600M i think it wouldn't be considered a bomb just a commercial disappointment

Exactly. First viewers are so negative and loud that I don't see this having legs. The reaction after my session yesterday was horrible. People were trashing every aspect of the movie.

The main difference, I think, is that House of Gucci doesn't take itself too seriously. It was meant to be campy and melodramatic, with the messiness being intentional. On the other hand, FaD tries to present itself as a profound and revolutionary art house film.

 

That's why HoG is better received. Context matters imo
