really not understanding the generic complaints about DWAS, as Gar said it's timeless :gaygacat4:

Spoiler

HMH and MR sound way more generic to me :suburban:

I mean, I've said it a million times, but Chromatica was the wrong move-- the GP wanted MORE ASIB-style songs in the wake of that album and DWAS's success is absolute evidence of that. When something smashes, your followup should always be giving them more of that (Evermore is a great example of that). Then once you burn through that demand, THEN you try something new.

The "return-to-form" era of Gaga should be what's coming next, which it sounds like we are getting with LG7, thanks to Gen Z discovering her darker pop from TFM/BTW.

Yet Chromatica Ball was a smash and was mostly a tour based on an album released 2 years before. Even if ASIB was a huge access, she would have flopped with like minded era because general public know she always does something different, and at each project they decide if they're in for the ride or wait for the one after.

They all do to some extent but I'll give the smashes a pass

:suburban:

Godga is pulling godly streaming numbers with her most current single and y'all are still talking about Chromatica's streams singling out tracks like ROM even though we've explained for like the 20 billionth time that hits from that era ALL have underwhelming recurrent streams

it could have been good for her career short-term to immediately go into releasing more ASIB-type music in 2019/20 but long term would have been catastrophic, she would have been pigeonholed into being an artist who had "grown up" and embraced a "more authentic" sound. Lady Gaga is more than a ballad singer and Chromatica came at the right time to remind the world of that fact, that era was a turning point in the gp finally realizing who she is as an artist and how the dance music and wild outfits are just as natural as a gown and piano for her.

If she wants to be this icon that exists in several music genres and entertainment mediums simultaneously, she needs to keep releasing content for ALL of those ventures or else they'll fall by the wayside. There was a 7 year gap between ARTPOP and Chromatica, it was overdue.

can y'all like, enjoy this era without bitching about past "mistakes" and "missteps"? :suburban:

Exactly. She was going to have to inevitably release a "return to form" record at one point.

Going off of her career decisions, she wants a varied multi-genre music career that includes pop, jazz, rock, dance, etc. Her doing ASIB-esque music right after she won her Oscar would have been in contrast to the versatility she's known for. Stans should definitely expect more ASIBs/Joannes in the future on top of TFMs and BTWs because she's definitely going to do continue doing both.

All the comments on all videos on tik tok with the song are about how fad is saving Bruno from a huge gambling debt. Where are these rumors even coming from?  :rip:

I'm not sure I agree that an ASIB style record was a surefire smash. ASIB had two of the best songs of her career on it Shallow and ARUTW, it was attached to a successful movie, she had a huge promo campaign for it because of the movie. Like sure if she delivered that quality and level of effort again that type of album would have smashed but if the songs didn't hit as well she'd be doing Joanne/Chromatica numbers. What she needs to smash again is stronger singles and a good quality album. Both Joanne and Chrom had one big hit each, she needs more than that to have another big era like TF/TFM/BTW/ASIB. Those albums all had multiple big hits.

I would live for a simultaneously released boppy remix for every ga song

also

DWAS>HMH>MR

I still remember Dua Lipa songs getting like 220-250M playlisting reach at some point during FN era with her singles.

I want that for DWAS. I hope they add more and it keeps getting bigger and bigger.

The era would have been received better and have better recurrent streams if she picked better singles. SL was not it, and still managed to debut in the top 5 because of the ASIB hype. It was the only song on the album without a proper chorus and had a catastrophic music video - imagine how well a better lead single would have done. ROM served its purpose, but Sour Candy should have been the third single. It's frustrating she just went silent for months instead of capitalising from ROM being a smash

Oh wow! Top 5 debut possible and we are worried about ROM and SL streaming numbers?

Oh Gar you're always beating the fad allegations :WAP:

Let's hope it keeps rising. It really seems to be taking off. :clap3:
