Yeah, rock is basically the only mainstream genre that hasn't had a comeback moment like hip-hop and country have had. The last time it was a dominant genre in popular music was the 2000s and for a brief moment in like 2015.

 

Not implying that Bey would flop but like CC, I doubt it'll make the same splash Renaissance made.

I was just thinking this. We have no evidence they're linking the two, and when Gaga has mentioned LG7 briefly, she's never said it in the same sentence as JFAD.

Gaga will bring it back to mainstream and start a new trend of music for the 2020s with LG7. I can't wait too see those rolling stone and billboard articles giving Gaga credit for reviving rock music again.

How many Emmy noms are y'all hoping/predicting? I'm hoping it gets into these 4 at least (these are the more realistic):

 

- Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded)

- Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Special

- Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork for a Special

- Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special 

 

These would be harder:

- Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special

This will probably be the hardest one, but the Monster Ball did get in here so let's hope! The last two winners were Rih's Halftime and Adele's special so they're okay with giving it to musical performances over stand up and tributes.

- Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming

If segments weren't separated this year, the chances are very slim; if they're separated then it could fair well against other specials.

- Outstanding Music Direction

This is a toss up. It feels like they tend to go for programs with older music but there's the occasional modern music stuff that gets in like Halftime shows & Saturday Night Live.
