Is she, though? In the past ten years, since 2014, we've gotten:

2 jazz albums

1 folk-inspired pop album

1 folk-inspired soundtrack album

a bunch of one-off singles like Hold My Hand, Sweet Sound of Heaven, Don't Let me Be Misunderstood, Your Song, etc

..... and Chromatica.

She may be known as a dance pop artist primarily, but in a literal sense, she hasn't been one since 2013.  For the past decade she's released more folk/country inspired pop and jazz than dance music.

I still don't want her to ditch dance pop, but it makes perfect sense for the fans who've stuck around this long to not be that interested in it anymore. It's not like she's been catering to us.

The vast majority of Gaga’s hits are dance pop. Shallow, ARUTW, and MR are the exceptions. Hasn’t everyone been complaining about jazz since LFS? If we only get a proper dance-pop album every decade then this base is gonna dwindle fast.

He’s so annoying :rip: if anything the fact that she added instruments like the saxophone to a track is almost a confirmation that something is coming this year  :rip:

No one will be buying a rock album from her be serious rn

It better be pop with rock elements

Every Gaga album is better than PH. Yes, even ARTPOP and Joanne.

 Respectfully I disagree :penguin:

Btw, Ariana was just dropping studio pics and still released her lead and announced her album

This is simply false, changing genres can be very profitable. Look at what Ray Of Light did for Madonna

BURNS, Watt and Gaga herself as lead producers with additional production by Gesaffelstein and Jorge Elbrecht we hea

Why do people think Rock is so far off for Gaga? lol

She's always had that rocker vibe to her, if anything country was a bigger shock than rock

girl no, country and very soft rock. literally not folk at all

I wouldnt call ARUTW country/soft rock… but whatever

Also, no Plastic Hearts slander will be tolerated

In not shading it, it is better than certain dance pop album from 2020 but imo gar could do something even better

The fact that BURNS alone produced Replay, his mind it amazes me sometimes, I hope he's actually involved in LG7 :WAP:

I totally agree, the monster ball was very “rock” for a pop show :rip:

I would love for BURNS to be involved. He’s clearly one of the very best producers that worked with her ever since the start of her career.

Dance pop is regarded as dated sound these days. Most of the successful/critically accalaimed record of last years are alt pop (Troye, Pink Pantheless, New Jeans, Taylor, Tate)

Thats why I was hoping her to gets away from dance pop route but this rock route is baffling frankly

This. She's had at least one rock/rock-leaning song in every one of her albums since The Fame. :rip: And her many public performances and songs with rock groups demonstrates that she has the chops to deliver great rock music.

At this point the only shocking genre changes Gaga could do within the realm of popular music is R&B or hip-hop.

It’s not 1998 anymore though.

None of these artists have iconic hits besides Taylor.

I agree Gaga doesnt need to do exactly the same but Im always here for some rock, pop/rock, dark/rock (shes gonna invent this and yall will be gagged)

Gar has always been influenced by rock one way or another, wether it is sound, visuals or the way she performs :michael:

this exactly.

50% of what makes her GAGA is the edgy-rock influence she brings to her music AND live performances.

One thing is certain - she’s not doing a rock/country/americana album, we’re safe. Joanne was cute for what it was but yeah, if she’s leaning towards some rock’ish sounds then I think she will definitely mix it with her signature sounds. I really don’t think people should be scared of her going the pure rock route.
