I think about this tour movie every single day. It pisses me off that it's not been released yet.

The conversation is not Jazz vs pop. 
It’s 2013 vs 2023 

 

Gaga was not well in 2013, this is even evident in the performances you just shared. She was literally addicted to drugs and wanted to quit the music industry during this time. 
She is obviously in a much better place in 2023. It was a boring year for stans. The only thing we got to do was track Bloody Mary. But we know that this is just the calm before JFAD. 

I enjoy ARTPOP the album, but 2013 was the worst year of Gaga’s career

people really want the whole Gaga having meltdowns on Twitter, pushing bot playlists of her music video, the Marina Abromofiasco, the whole interviews PR which were embarrassing to watch, the media coming for her neck calling her over and poking fun at ARTPOP underperforming, the messy live performances? seeing her being so sad all the time

I personally didn't let the R. Kelly incident/ mess define the whole ARTPOP era for me. 

ARTPOP had so many moments, performances, looks, and tracks that I will forever cherish. Very special moments. 

She matured and learned a lot during that time, and for those of us who grew up with her as well, ARTPOP feels very personal. 

Hating on ARTPOP because she was on drugs is so unfair. 

Wasn't she on drugs during TF, TFM, and BTW as well? 

I feel like the only era she's been sort of clean has been Chromatica.

She is sad no matter what. She told us she was at her saddest point while the ASIB slayagé was happening, then she wanted to kill herself every day while recording Chromatica and has to take those psychotic drugs. She is just not a happy person, period.

She still smokes marijuana too lol although in fairness I don't think she's addicted to it anymore she probably smokes one joint a week or something like that.

That was rather strange tbh.

 

I'm hoping she doesn't talk about healing or undoing some sort of trauma in LG7 interviews. She mentioned healing for Joanne, on top of Chromatica. 

 

I truly hope she's consulting appropriate health serivces if every album cycle post-ARTPOP is her recovering from a deep depression.

It's okay if she wants to publicly talk about her depressive episodes. It helps to combat the stigma and it's therapeutic. 

Chronic depression doesn't go away like any other disease. It's a constant and permanent battle.

Yeah I'm also hoping the next album isn't about the same topic of healing from trauma. We've had two sad albums back to back, so I'm excited to see what she makes when she's in a better headspace. 

 

Keep in mind both Joanne and Chromatica coincided with breakups. Mr. Polansky better pull through as a muse. 

For me, the most frustrating decision of her career is picking Perfect Illusion as the lead single. It’s literally the most basic, lifeless song on the album that is her most forgotten single. Part of me wonders if it was deliberate to avoid overexposure 

The fact that its been 3.5 years since her last album and no signs of new music hurts a bit.. Hope there is a proper soundtrack for Joker 2 with her singing in the most

Didn’t Interscope tell her Joanne didn’t have a lead single they wanted so they told her to make one and that’s how Perfect Illusion came about?
