I have no bad memories of the 'ARTPOP' era since I wasn't around here, just lurking GGD and I didn't let the usual miserable haters online define an era for me, I was just disappointed because the DWUW video was not released since it wasn't immediately clear back then the reasons, but for the rest the performances were always good-brilliant-entertaining with giving herself to the max, in the interviews she was still her extra herself and always articulate, at the time just a 26 years old, her whole social media presence of course was different at the time and was fitting her age and timing, she was just her true herself dealing with her struggles.

 

It's not that in the previous eras she has never been extra in interviews or messy with certain performances, the extra has always been there, the only difference with the ARTPOP era  was just the media perception that decide to go against her and a decline in sales-numbers, thank God I never let those factors influence my judgement over her work, trashing what she was doing back then it's like repudiate her as person and artist.

Y'all are such a mess. There's something to be said about this quote from the AP era.

This was and has always been Gaga, like you said, the only difference was GP and ATRL approval and it's sad that certain supposed fans let those factors in first influence their opinion on her work and revisinionism a whole era based on that, forgetting all the good things she did.

 

Once again, we don't even have to go back to that era, just see the continue Chromatica bash, including for the tour, maybe she has a point in not releasing anything after all.

Even Gaga herself said that when she rewatched ARTPOP performances and interviews from 2013 she looked, “Dead behind the eyes”. That has nothing to do with GP’s reception to the era. You can tell in a lot of AP interviews that she doesn’t seem present. 
The SXSW interview was a great interview because it is her reflection of how 2013 went for her. In a lot of ways she reclaimed AP during the SXSW performance. She wanted to end the era on a positive note and then move on to C2C.

 

I was not a stan yet during AP. So I’m not really sure what the discourse was here. But anyone who watches interviews from that time can tell that something is wrong

This is why it's an issue that she puts all her eggs in one basket. She literally put everything interesting about her career on hold so that when she "comes back" with Joker it can be a big bang. Fortunately, the chances for Joker being a flop are very low.

Even if Joker flops Gaga can still book other prestigious acting gigs. WB is pretty loyal to talent, and ASIB made them a **** ton of money. JFAD will very likely be extremely profitable as well.

Nobody has claimed that she was at her top mentally and physically, we all know she was dealing with her struggles and issues of the time, but some people are acting as if she was in Britney Spears 2007 state which has never been the case, she still delivered some excellent performances (posted tones of times) and in the interviews she has always been articulate like her usual, even that unfamous BBC interview where she takes a long break, I recall it's a great interview overall.

 

There is a lot of exaggeration from part of this fanbase when it comes to judge that era and yes big part of that negative perception is heavily influenced from the media backlash of the time, her decline on popularity with GP and what other stans online claim about it.

 

There's a reason if media outlets in the last years have revalued that project and era, even Pitchfork that are not excatly their biggest fans did.

Some things are strange with the latest Beyonce and pink boxscores, they are not reported the same way Gaga were… Gaga’s prices were higher  for some shows… VIP tickets counted or whatever something’s strange
