well, considering she literally had a song on that tour with the lyrics "I'm not having fun tonight", an album on tour that was about depression and feeling sad, had an entire interview with Oprah about depression, told radio stations in interviews that she literally cried when making this album, was it so far fetched to think so?

The song is not the issue, people really hate the song because of everything that surrounded it. 
 

-Leaking months in advance 

-No live performances after it was released 

-Questionable music video shot on an iPhone 

-Chromatica being delayed with SL being the only song we had 

-The initial stress and fear of the pandemic 

 

All of these events ruined SLs reputation. I still love her, she’s been through a lot but she still tries to be optimistic

“Sucks” is a bit harsh but the song is very average and wasn’t indicative of the Gaga flavor that would be present on Chromatica. Also I saw plenty of folks echo this sentiment when the song released and long after. 

Just listened to Padang Padam and it’s automatically better than SL cause it actually has a chorus. Both songs are pretty mid/borderline bad tho, so the last 3 pages were pretty exhausting to get through and for what?

There's a great song hidden somewhere in Stupid Love, but the finished product is just a cute bop overall. The verses are pretty great actually and the pre-chorus is good, but it's the non-existent chorus and that chipmunk loop that absolutely pull the whole thing down.

 

I think we also need to keep context with the Stupid Love vs. Padam Padam discussion. For Kylie, Padam Padam is a hit, but for Gaga it would be a flop, similar to how Stupid Love for Kylie would have been a massive smash, whereas for Gaga it was just a moderate hit. This is like Kylie's 5th decade and she's only really big in Australia and the UK versus Gaga's 3rd decade and she's a global superstar.
