People have a difficult time relating to songs about being a hooker

Love her but a Cardi collab is so old news at this point. It should have happened in 2019-2020.

It still would be cute though cause Cardi is def one of the biggest Liddos in the industry.

Random Joanne shower thoughts and light shade directed towards another artist:

The main problem with Joanne is that it is not relatable to the general public. A folksy album like that needs to be relatable, but Gaga was too honest about her life. People have a difficult time relating to songs about being a hooker, songs about your father forcing you to fill the hole in his heart that was left by your dead aunt you never met, songs about dating tough older men that remind you of your father, songs about being a mother to millions of gays you have never met and songs about touching yourself when your lonely (most people do this one, but many people won’t publicly admit to it).

5ft2 portrays all of this. Gaga does not filter her life at all. She shows how massively rich she is having people on call to plan her life, cook for her and massage her. Her main message is that even though she does not live like a normal person, she still has the same relatable human emotions. This message failed to come across and Joanne didn’t click with the general public. Only the raw emotions of Million Reasons did.

Another artist desperately tries to be relatable to their audience of late gen-z/early millennial women that are disenchanted by life (and sad gays that desperately want to be accepted by straight people). This artist makes up their life story and pretends to be a poor college kid that drinks cheap rose on the floor and lives in a dorm. When in reality they have been a multimillionaire since they were 18 and has lived an overly glamorous life like Gaga, but pretends not to in their songs.

Is it better to lie about your life to be relatable or is it better to be honest about your life even when it is not relatable to the general public?

I think it fully depends on what kind of artist you are or want to be. Many popstars place commercial success above personal artistic expression and so they dumb their thoughts down to make them "relateable" for the public. I do not think Gaga is this or has ever been this. She is the type of artist who uses music to genuinely express herself; to get things off her chest; to feel better about the trials and tribulations of her life. As a stan who knows pretty much everything about her, I think I enjoyed Joanne as much as I did because it was not filtered and because it was so personally "Gaga". Long gone are the days of her being "mysterious", so in a way her opening up about her life allowed me to learn new stuff about her I did not know and that was exciting as a fan.

From my memory, Mr S said a new single or album, can’t remember which now, was dropping in May 2019 before confirming plans had changed and was pushed back and I think the way he was getting picked apart in the base for giving shifting dates is why he said he was never going to share Gaga tea with us again.

It would have made sense considering how all out she went for the Met Gala that year; imagine the Chromatica announcement just after it. I guess they thought they would let the ASIB wave ride out while they continued pre-planning the era, but welp!

Imagine Crhomatica actually being released in 2019's Q2/Q3....

No Covid-19

No BBM

Yes roll-out

Yes proper album era

We really lost :deadbanana2:

I don't understand why she's sitting on the concert film

Like is she particular about how she looks or sounds or :rip:

exactly

Gaga has said back in late 2022 that she has been working at home a lot and mentioned her music and how she went back to her TFM/BTW days in terms of not asking for others validation

Where did she say this?!

Her interview for Dom Perignon I quoted above

Also if Kylie can get a cute little gay hit with Padam, Gaga should easily be able to :michael:

Quote

“But the more successful I became, the more I felt like I needed other people to tell me I was great.”

Interesting…. Thats why all of Joanne and most of Chromatica sounds like SH*T.

This one is just :jonny5: Best performance of the tour, best song on the album. :jonny5:

:jonny5:"PUT YOU F HANDS UP RE-PLAY!" :WAP: and the "LET'S GO LET'S GOT" in this one :jonny5:had i been live the first time she said that i'd gone feral. It's a shame we did not get Replay as a single just imagine the performances and the video... imagine Replay being the continuation of 911.

Chromatica is like a situationship it hurts so much because all we remember is the potential and the what it could've been.

I actually think it started with ARTPOP

it was originally the album in which she was gonna collab with many many people

does it mean they were ****? no! just that she sometimes let others influence her more than her own guts

ARTPOP was mostly her label, not other producers making her change the sounds/direction of the music.

She started to let producers have charge over the sound with Joanne. During Chromatica it was at it’s worse.

This is a narrative Gaga fans have made up. Collaborating and being more open with your producers is not the same as letting producers take charge over your music. She is always in charge and everyone who works with her confirms this. Gaga has always been open to deep collaboration with her producers and that is a big reason why she tends to stick with the same people; she has a genuine connection with them.

For years we told her to stop being so "one-woman-show" and to open up more. Now we are telling her opening up = letting others take charge and she should not do that.

Joanne and Chrome are her best technically-produced albums. You are trying to connect something she said to a narrative you believe even though that is not what she meant at all. She is talking about validation and needing other people to tell her she is great, not other people taking control of her music. I am not sure how you are connecting the two.

If it weren’t for bloodpop, we’d have an album full of The Cures and Heal Me’s :coffee2:

So we're just gonna spend the next year having revisionist history lessons

Gaga. If it were not for Gaga. She made that decision. We really need to move away from this idea that everything Gaga does we do not like/do like is the fault of someone else. She is responsible; she is an autonomous artist. Let us not infantilize her and act like she has no power; she is to blame for everything we do not like or do like.

Infantilizing is what a certain other fanbase does with their fave in order to remove responsibility from everything she does. I find that so annoying.

That’s fair, I get what you’re saying — I was mostly just referring to when Gaga mentioned BloodPop told her she didn’t sound like herself in some of the early tracks she recorded

Yeah, that makes sense. I think a lot of Gaga fans are taking that quote out of context, though, and thinking it means Bloodpop told her to change her sound. Gaga stated the recording of Chromatica was hard for her because she was in a rough spot mentally at the time, so I took that quote as Bloodpop being a good friend and letting her know that what she was creating did not have that "Gaga spark" we all know and love. Sometimes it takes our friends putting things into perspective for us to realize what we are doing. I personally think that is a good thing, but lord knows what we could have gotten had Gaga continued to write and record in a negative head space.
