She did 1.34M US streams without any US based playlists such as

Hot Hits US

New Music Friday

Today's Top Hits

with those playlists she would push for 1.9 to 2.4M tbh

Those are charts playlists so probably won't be that influential. We need more big editorial playlists.

Honestly, one of the biggest factors for this song's long term success in the US is going to be whether Interscope can get radio on board.

I'm assuming this is just the top 50's playlists? Or did it get added to more? Either way… AHHHH

MET Gala is kind of meh now that they allow anybody and everybody to come. Plus so many people don't follow the theme anymore.

I think the things that separate Abra from Chromatica are first the subject matter and certain lyrical Gaga hallmarks, and second the fact that it sort of feels a bit heavier and harder-hitting in its instrumentation. It's in the same overall genre as, say, Alice and ROM, but there's a little bit of an edge there. I think that's part of why it more immediately evokes tracks like Venus for some listeners.

But I've said a few times that the song and video kind of encapsulate all her major pop eras into one. All of Gaga all at once! (except Joanne I guess :rip:)

For me, the traces of TFM are in the gibberish spell calling back to Bad Romance (she never really entirely stopped doing it, but it certainly happened less in her later work) and in the general melody and vocal tone of the "lady in red" pre-chorus.

Yeah that's fair... the "ra ra" gibberish is certainly TFM-coded...

In any case, it's kind of mad that she's made a song that somehow encapsulates/references all of her previous albums (Joanne.mp3_not_found).

I really think if radio gave disease a chance then abracadabra can get a chance.

It's way more radio friendly IMO

DAY 1 Total - 11.3K

Average: +500 an hour

TODAY

8AM — 13.3K

9AM — 13.7K (+400)

WE ARE BACK!

note: the average sunk to like 100-200 an hour over night, so this is a big boost to what we were getting.

~800 videos in the last hour on TikTok, doubled from the previous one. :agaycatabra:

I would say its biggest markets are North America, Europe, and South America, in that order.

To add to this, here's how some other songs from established pop girls from last year compare in terms of their debut day percentage coming from the US.

Disease: 25%

Die With a Smile: 29%

Birds of a Feather: 34%

we can't be friends: 34%

they need to highkey think a little differently with this. get it played in the clubs nonstop. radio won't touch this so they shouldn't even try.

Straight man with 1.5M subscribers on Youtube reacts to Abragodabra

He reacted to DWAS and it ended up being a smash hit. Interestingly enough, he never reacted to Disease. Maybe this is a good sign. :agaycatabra:

I'm all caught up, what a debut for Abra :agaycatabra:

the potential is obviously there, I hope it holds steady and get playlisting and physicals on Friday!

This is more radio friendly than Disease, if that can get inside pop top 10, I don't see why this can't.

But whyyyyy is no one talking about how the melody is almost a sample of "Mad World" by tears for fears. I heard that on my very first listen and then ONE of my friends had mentioned it - which means it's fact and I am not crazy. But it is so there. Listen…
