I agree actually. The 'Abracadabra, feel the heat' post chorus is very TFM-esque industrial, but the rest of it fits Chromatica's 90s soundscape the most out of all her albums. The only difference is Abracadabra isn't watered down and GP'd which was my main gripe with Godmatica

What I love and have always loved about Gaga is how she is unafraid to just be stupid. Listening to this song, it is stupid in the best way possible. It is stupid in a way no other mainstream popstar would ever dare to be. The traditional song structure with a gibberish chorus, robotic post-chorus, and a bridge with operatic vocals over a house beat are all things only Lady Gaga would have the metaphorical balls to do. And then the video, where Gaga is spazzing out, looking silly, distorted, and crazy, is another example of something only she has the confidence to pull off. In a world where being "relateable" and "perfect" has reigned supreme for years (something even Gaga fell into) and where all of her contemporaries are obsessed with their image being portrayed as "nothing less than always put together", this makes me appreciate Gaga in a way I haven't in a very long time. This package has everything I've felt has been missing from Gaga for a long, long time, but I didn't realize it was missing until it was served to me again.

 

I don't like talking about "old Gaga" because I think it downplays that Gaga has always been "Gaga", just in difference reincarnations, but I cannot deny that this version of "Gaga" is the most fun and interesting to witness. The Gaga that isn't afraid to go against the grain in a big way. 

 

And best of all, it feels current. It feels elevated in a way Lady Gaga in 2025 should feel. What helps differentiate this from her just "rehashing old sounds and images" is that she's clearly in control. This is a popstar with confidence, a popstar who understood the assignment they assigned themselves and aced the assignment because she did her homework. It's easy to rely on old motifs you know best, it's not easy to make it feel fresh and new, which this does.

 

What this proves, which we all already knew, is that Gaga is and has always been the foundational magic to what makes her, her. Over the years, fans have cried to bring back Nicola, bring back RedOne, bring back Boomkack... but what this package shows is that it is GAGA who is the manufacturer of what makes all of this work. All she needed was a good team, a group of people whose minds work on the same level of hers (Richie Jackson's clearly did not). Gaga is not Gaga unless GAGA is operating at the highest level. She is now operating on the highest level. I do not think any of us are fully ready for this album.

I'm just quoting to say that I'm kinda exhausted with seeing 'gibberish' being the play here for the chorus of Abracadabra, 

It's not gibberish. It's a deliberate play on amour (love) and morta (death), a la "In her tongue she said, death or love tonight"
They aren't meaningless words, but incantations in tongues saying death and love.

They're mistaken for 'gibberish' in that they're not real words, but they aren't 'gibberish' because they don't lack meaning, esp. to the song.

My cardio playlist was Disease every 3rd song and other current favorites up until yesterday, now it's both Disease & Abracadabra every 3rd song

Yes, it's so much more than that—it's an evolution. But while Born This Way leaned heavily into '80s influences, Abracadabra feels like a '90s fever dream, elevated and modernized to sound fresh in 2025.

But either way, I love that we all are pulling different things from this. It just goes to show how deep this song goes.  A bunch of us who have been around for so long are finally being served something we can truly dig into. 

I'm hoping Abra catches on despite not being super radio friendly. It has two things going for it. 1 it's really good, 2 the chorus is really catchy and an ear worm as silly as it is. Bad Romance was a hit despite a similarly silly chorus and we've seen APT overcome that too recently.

I just wanna share with you guys that I'm fighting with multiple playlists and Lady Gaga herself was very confident in this single which means she believes in us and the GP will like and support it.

 

We all proudly say on here that we're the hardest core fans, we're better than others, blah blah blah, so I hope and I do believe in you guys that each every one of you are streaming this song hard.

Well, of course we know that as fans, but to anyone listening outside of the pop stratosphere, it's gibberish.

It's just like with Scheisse; we know the meaning of why the lyrics are what they are, but it's gibberish to everyone else.

 

However, she does make it clear right before the "gibberish" that she's reciting a spell and I appreciate that level of storytelling.

Methinks this album will be one of her bests and I'm not even joking. 
 

Me also thinks that Chromatica will be demoted to Joanne "D tier" overall by the fandom.

I'm hoping Mayhem pulls a BTW and transcends lists. BTW cannot be compared to any other album of hers because it's so transcendental. It must be grouped on its own. Need Mayhem to serve that too.

I honestly hope the let it slowly do it's thing this week and then Friday start adding to playlisting and let it have legs to build up instead of throwing everything out at once.
