Tennessee Whiskey just came on my shuffle and yeah… if she comes with THAT kind of bluesy country for Act II then it’s a wrap! :allears:

But if she comes with more pop country like Daddy Lessons… then SHE might be a wrap

Daddy Lessons… was not good. :sorry:

I know this award is a joke but the point is, she has cemented herself in history with the likes of Whitney and Lauryn. And on top of that she won an award for a genre that completely ridiculed and ex

Tennessee Whiskey sounds like Etta James "I Rather Go Blind" which Beyonce demolished!

You literally read my mind! Cause that was the first thing I thought.

I didn’t write it cause I didn’t want to be cliched, but yeah! There’s a clear overlap between blues and country that Bey can really thrive in. :jonny5:

Only thing is I Rather Go Blind, while great, sounds like it’s of its time. Whereas Tennessee Whisky sounds like it could have been released yesterday. It’s timeless blues.

And I wouldn’t mind that for Act II.

At any rate, she made a lot of nostalgic dance sounds on Act I sound fresh (like AHAP :jonnycat:), so I’m not too worried about her music sounding dated. Not to mention, it’s only ever happened once in her discography with I Rather Die Young :eli:, but LOT and Party still sound fresh till today.

Beyonce doing country and Rock with her R&B/pop/southern twist - I am just so excited!

How about lets not be metacritic Karens. If you truly enjoy the music as much as you claim, put your earbuds in and forget the “haters”. Release your anger.

The base is SLOW. Lmao. When we had NOTHING there were 20 pages an hour. Lol.

Imma be honest with you *******, but… I don’t know why All Up In Your Mind is on this album.

I’m tired of hitting SKIP on it. And it’s guaranteed whether I’m listening to the album in sequence or on shuffle. Like… I’m just tired.

At least Forward was REALLY short. And somewhat sentimental with a nice build up into Freedom. AUIYM is just wasted space. Literally makes me upset that there’s a song in her vault that didn’t make it over this. :rip:

Like, I don’t even particularly like Church Girl, but it makes sense to me. And I sometimes I do let it play. But AUIYM is not doing it. :doc:

I was just logging on to say this!! I hate that we are 2 weeks into a new era and already in a bit of a lull.

We ate a huge meal. And now we need to take a nap.

We only have the music so far and there is a thread dedicated to that.

Anyway I was indeed feeling that the drop would be significant this week but I had hope she could stay above 100k for a second week.

Me too. I low key cringed. At least at the 100K mark would have been cute. I am not surprised tho.  Her pre-sales were insane. She really marketed the hell out of that Box and Vinyl (or the media did it for her). I think she is still doing good on streaming.  I think the drop after ACT II’s 1st week will be less significant once she gets some ground established after this initial phase of reintroduction.

I think she will settle at about 40k or 50k as a baseline week over week and serve longevity.

If its a trilogy of 3 albums, act ii will prob be next year.

I was thinking of maybe later this year (November-December) and act iii in spring just in time before a possible tour

Yeah I think ACT 2 is happening before the end of the year, and ACT 3 right before Tour :jonny2:

AUIYM is one of THE stand out songs of the album but I can see why some don't like it right now. I liked it on first listen but it's one of those "grower" tracks.

The visuals will probably do A LOT for the song if they ever get released :dancehall:

Her website doesn't even say bag, it says store. :rip:

wait never mind actually.

I think whoever created that screenshot went to shop.beyonce.com and edited the "RENAISSANCE MERCH DROP RESTOCK - 24 HOURS ONLY WHILE SUPPLIES LAST" text to say "act ii. ENLIGHTENMENT" or whatever.

At first I thought the same way. Til the growing success of Renaissance had me rethink how they will execute 3 acts.

Since we have no visuals or promo yet, makes me think Renaissance will have its own moment for the year. Cause in a way we still don’t know what this album represents outside the few details provided. But I could be wrong lol.

Yep, my exact thoughts.

No way would it all be spread out across years as a) people have increasingly short attention spans b) she won't want to be seen to be milking something to the point of expiration and c) the holiday window is way too lucrative and a literal "easy sell" to miss out on.

So I could see it being:

Act ii: Oct/Nov/Dec - initially announced with the tour and people have to buy the album for ticket presale access. Guarantees big numbers.

Act iii: March/April to tie in with tour launch - giving a conclusive "gift for the fans" vibe (Remix album? Collab version of acts II and III) as she does the tour and rounds out the era.

For someone as promo avoidant and family committed as Bey, I don't buy the idea of her embarking on an intense multi-year era.

Instead, I can see her finding savvy ways to still give us the "abundance" promised in British Vogue while in actuality giving us the same amount of "her" as we usually get...which is largely centered around album, long form visual, and a definitive tour...with the odd appearance/activation sprinkled in.

#That reviewer who has been spewing bullshit since BMS is getting ripped to shreds online. Lemme email it to Metacritic too

I mean, if it were lazy and half-baked, maybe. But this album is anything but that, especially the very LGBTQAI+-centered tracks. They're such an immaculate tribute and homage to what came before AND it features producers and performance artists IN the damn album. Come on, man!

Agreed. It takes me out. If I'm too lazy to ask the speaker to skip, I won't skip it. But that's one of 3 tracks I don't have on the album because I kills the continuous mood the rest of the album is able to get me to feel.
