I know she's not an Easter Egg person, but I have to give her points for intention. It seems as if that phrase (with a focus on Black history) has been her mantra on every project she has worked on for the last decade down to her sample choices for Homecoming and her strategic inclusions (and exclusions... Elton John) on The Gift. She has given renewed life/legacy to the careers of industry ancestors, supplied multi-million dollar album space to underrated contemporaries, and the future of Black music is all over her writing, instrumental, backing vocal, feature, and production credits. Very interesting that 2026 (the predicted year of Act III and her overarching visuals) will mark the 10-year anniversary of her deep immersion into her personal Act 4: reclaiming Black History.

 

(Act I: DC, Act 2: 00s Solo Singing + Acting Career, Act 3: Branching Out and building credibility (4, ST), Act 4: reclaiming lost/unsung Black History (2016-))

 

She also referenced the line again at the Kamala Harris rally as well.

I was there but I got in the building right at 5:30, so I missed the rain. Imagine my surprise when she didn't start until 8:40 

 

What a show. I'm surprised people were talking about cutting parts of it because there is nothing I didn't want to see. And even though I thought I'd seen a lot of stuff online, there was SO much I didn't know about so the element of surprise was high.

I know AHAP and Cuff It were doing around 1mil when she made them singles but I do honestly think it's kinda insane that Tyrant is her third most popular song right now, and most popular of this era, and she's refusing to give it even a visualiser push
