I'm actually looking forward to this Levii commercial cuz it potentially means leviis jeans promo! That song has amazing potential with the GP. It deserves to be a groovy streaming smash

  • It was the best concert of my life, bar none. Idc!    It was extraordinary, it was ineffable.  I knew I loved it based on the videos but I... Hey I don't know.    Best moment

I know this award is a joke but the point is, she has cemented herself in history with the likes of Whitney and Lauryn. And on top of that she won an award for a genre that completely ridiculed and ex

Also, we have nothing else going on or to look forward to or enjoy that includes any music. Is this pushes the song, I'm happy

I'm not mad at a new commercial. I won't be buying, but any visual content might be nice.

I don't care if she wants to push business ventures. The problem is there's no balance with music/fan content.

Everything after the release is just buy this buy that.

Next Tuesday will be the Louis Vuitton Show for the Paris Fashion Week. Pharrell was teasing to „get ready" not too long ago, I can definitely see them collaborating on a collection like she did with Olivier for Balmain.

This isn't a bad theory

Outside of the brand fatigue I do wanna say that I actually really love this logo

i also think the bleached Cowboy Carter hair is really cementing the character as one of her Alter Egos in the same way that Sasha is. It's fun to have an actual alter ego for an era! P~ssy Pink should've been her alter ego for the Rennie era low-key but I also wouldn't trade that Stockholm golden brown wig for anything

And she did a small interview about the sound and inspiration for "4" at her "I Am World Tour" premiere. spacer.png

And previewing "BOW DOWN" at REVEL.

And speaking with GQ in 2013. I do find it odd that the inspiration and producers line up, but the interview said the album was coming out in April.

and she teased selftitled surprise release in a life is but a dream interview

That's what's so funny, she JUST referred to visuals as "distractions" so what are these ads then?

She posted another whiskey photoshoot.

:toofunny3:

And then she put that white horse up there.

She is a demon.

all this capitalism lets me know she will be endorsing tr*mp this election.

That cement booty, bug eyed, coke sniffing, dumpy, frumpy, sloppy, skanky, ass backwards piece of garbage is still throwing jabs at Beyonce.

WHO are you even chirping at?

Why is everyone having meltdowns about a Levis collab as if you werent all demanding it on album release night and as if we didnt already know she was shooting for this campaign via set leaks and car waves

we didn't want JUST advertisements this era, some commercials sprinkled in with MINIMAL fan service (a music video... a live performance) and we wouldve ate it up.

Commercial Carter (still without dolby atmos btw) was dropped and then we had absolute silence with her only appearing to buy a $100 whiskey or some $70 shampoo/conditioner... see the problem

Might be some sort of truth to that.

However, the journalist says the activation is for Wednesday.

At the very least, we'll get some more new....pictures. :rip:

It's the women's show, Nicholas Ghesquiere is in charge of them. Pharrell does the menswear.

It would be great if she got Nicholas to do something for her, especially custom tour outfits. He praised the DC outfits and made the gold leggings she wore to the 2007 BET awards.

I love Aaliyah but the hot takes people pump out really supports why I often feel like they need to CHARGE for social media lol. Some people just like to be loud and wrong. And the fact they do it for free and gain traction with it IRKS me to no end lol.

We all have different opinions and I respect that, but anyone who genuinely follows the music business, LIVED the time of the 90s/00s, and understands the R&B landscape qualitatively and commercially, knows that the whole "if Aaliyah was alive then Bey wouldn't be as big" is total BS.

The album era she passed away during actually wasn't selling that well at that point. The singles, while incredible, also weren't smash hits either.

Aaliyah awkwardly had the unique circumstance of being active as an artist since she was a teen, yet always marketed as an older artist throughout. So despite only being 22 when she died, in the consumer's mind she had been out for a long while and hadn't had the benefit of the whole "young act to grown woman" gimmick change that the Britney's, Xtina's and so many others benefitted from.

Artists, no matter what folk argue, ARE products and I guess what I'm saying is that Aaliyah had already had a "long" product cycle (in being presented as a cool, slick, edgy act for the entirety of her career). Consumers are conditioned to gag over the "new", "shiny" act on the block, so her withering sales actually tracked with that trajectory (that most artists experience).

That's not to say she couldn't have bounced back. Because as much as the "mid-tier R&B girl" path could have been her lane, what she was doing with Timbaland and co at the time of her passing could have seen her thrive in a lane that was entirely hers. A lane that was one foot edgy/critical darling and one foot in the commercial (but not as big as the big-big commercial acts like Bey). Plus her juggling a movie career so heavy at that time was very different to any of her peers. So, IMO, she easily could have had a career trajectory totally different to any act she's compared to.

Aaliyah being used for Bey hate is so irksome and is 9/10 being done by people who didn't even live her peak or just be talking to talk. A big part of Bey's appeal/breakthrough / present relevance is her performance ability, the people drawing on Aaliyah to down Bey probably couldn't name 5 performances of hers that they've seen and definitely couldn't name 1 performance that would blow a Bey showing out of the water.

If anything, like others have said, the real question is whether the girls like Rihanna would exist had Aaliyah been around. Because, in the absence of "an Aaliyah", the quality gap between what Bey was/is serving up and the "next" big R&B girl was/is huge. Realistically, Aaliyah would have given the industry a great alternative while not being a patch on Bey. We live in a world where Rihanna is seen as on-par with Bey or right under when her talent and abilities pale in more ways than I can type. She's considered as such because of the power of her brand and catchiness of her songs (which I'll give her). Aaliyah being around, with the level of talent, beauty, and extracurricular activity she had going on outside of music makes me wonder more about what would be of the Rihanna's, Ciara's (who I like), and similar. But not Bey lol.

Aaliyahs legacy was already getting washed by the white version: Britney. Aaliyah's Stans spend lot of time on Beyonce (so much time) when Britney was the one for two consecutive VMA's copying Aaliyah (2001 vmas, 2002 VMAs leather newsboy cat/outfit) . Days after  Aaliyah died in 2001, Britney had a snake wrapped around her at the VMAs and white people went crazy. Aaliyah did the snake around the neck  first.

I don't know why they spend so much time dragging Beyonce. Britney was the one being used to replace Aaliyah and Janet

She referred to how (musical) visuals are distractions from how people consume and therefore experience music.

Ads for products logically aren't part of that statement, at all. If that were the case, we could say that about anything she did that wasn't visuals.

"Music videos are a distraction to the music, but using your song to sell products isn't."

Next thing bootlicking Hive is gonna say is how ad placements are some new revolutionary way to promote an era like gurl pls. She has become the equivalent of a Beats Pill in a 2012 music video. CC isn't even 6 months old yet it's about to fall off the charts so we clearly have found other ways to distract us :sistrens:
