because ultimately there's a limit to how much promo bey is going to do  it's been like this since self titled. she's not going to go overboard to get her message across. she just believes in putting stuff out and letting people find it

Because she doesn't want to do promo anymore. She just wants to release her stuff and let it speak for itself. She doesn't care anymore weather she'll have great numbers

when her store was down for Renaissance she released the shirts and CD bundle, so either vinyl is coming with this drop or it'll come a few weeks later like for Renaissance. Either way, get your wallets ready!

I’d assume that the point isn’t to be more successful than white people, just to highlight that Black ppl have a place in genres that they’ve been erased from.

tbh if she give it promo & massive effort then clowns would make outlandish claims OR she would just lose (or overshadowed) by YT artists anyway.

I mean, I would love it if she did heavy promo, but I think she's just not interested with her family, and other obligations.  She works really hard on her art, and lets it showcase itself.

There is no amount of promo that will make her sell or get streams like Taylor 

I know it's challenging for some to understand especially in this social media day and age but numbers aren't the only way to make a mark

Well yes. The cover in traditional black-and-white with film grain and a worn-in feeling reflects the song's theme of hard work. The glamour of the music business is nowhere to be found. It's matter-of-fact. It's a snapshot, not a setup. Her gaze looks directly into the camera almost as if she was not posing but told to "look this way" right as the photographer clicked the shutter and it evokes an almost worn out feeling itself. Her vulnerability is shown in her eyes, here done in makeup and lighting that makes them droopier and more introspective than usual. It's almost as if she has been on a tour bus all day, and is waking up as the caravan makes their nightly pit stop to stretch legs, get some food, fill up gas tanks. You can imagine her exiting the tour bus, blanket over her shoulders, tired eyes looking at the sunset and reflecting on what she's up to. And it's the same kind of expression she wears here, the kind she has when she sways at basketball games or award shows, the kind we all feel when we are tired and not ready to be awake, nor desiring to continue sleeping...just...our eyes heavy, our lips not quite closed, we are just existing in the moment, feeling every corner of emotion, and reflecting on where we are and how we got there.
