I was jarred by the following leads by Beyonce:

- Deja vu (I thought it was too old sounding and erratic. Now I think it is one of my fave Beyonce songs)

- Single ladies (had almost same complaint as Break my Soul - lyrical issues, repetitive, lack of subtlety) - grew on me within a few days

- If I were a boy (never loved)

- RTW (hated the use of the sample at first and the production of the demo. Started loving the song after official release)

- Formation (startled at first @the jarring production. Loved after the second listen)

- Break my soul (similar issues as the lyricism of single ladies and use of sample but this has really grown on me and won’t get out of my head)

 

I understand the choice of this song as a lead, it really is uplifting and a great way to start the era

which to mean suggests she's saying when you're outside, wear a mask... I don't think she necessarily means it like "outdoors" but like "not at home" meaning "outside".

 

So in the US she's #1 on iTunes, Amazon, YouTube and #5 on Apple Music. If the Spotify numbers are terrible I will be pretty shocked tbh.
