Formation was an instant hit for me.  The rap, the visual, the lyrics, the production, all god tier quality.

Formation wasn't instant to me either, it grew on me later but at least I appreciated the structure of the song and its innovative side from the 1st listen. I have never felt that about RTW ever! 

 

In general Bey is too weird musically : SL, Formation, RTW, CD, Black Parade, BMS...

Everyone expects and expected big vocals with a very traditional melodic structure and she went completely opposite : it feels anti-melodic just like RTW, Formation, SL etc...she sings low, doesn't belt once, puts in a rap and worse/better the end of it doesn't even fall on the time of the anti-melody(!!) behind, then a little bit of bounce and adds a church choir that you only hear twice. And there's a crescendo in the song in the most random place. She still surprises me.

The way she broke the server. It does normally get like this over any major release but it's rarely THIS bad, the text box/field to post doesn't even load most of the time.

I wasn't quite sure : I felt she was either ironic and telling us to wear a mask or laughing at herself because she has been wearing hoodies and masks outside since the beginning and is still doing that now.
