I don’t think she’s nearly as respected by them privately compared to the public praise and respect. Majority of it seems performative (even the recent twitter video that was just posted reads that way to me). 

 

Ari Lennox and Summer Walker especially being nomination-less is all you need to know about the Grammys.

 

They're an out of touch institution being ran by old men who haven't a clue what's actually happening in music if it's not white and/or mainstream.

 

My thought on the Grammys are the same with my thoughts on the Rock Hall. How did a demographic of people (older white men), who are quite literally the antithesis of musical progress and development and have historically stood on the opposite of musical innovation in U.S History, somehow become the deciders of what is or is not good music or worthy of recognition.

 

These are the same people who fought against Jazz, Rock n Roll and Hip-hop because they upset the balance of things, and here they are sitting together to decide what good music is

It's a contradictory switcheroo whenever it comes to PoC in award shows. First it's because Beck was about the art, not the impact or sales. And then it's because 25 was the biggest commercial album seller.  I can't keep up nor have I cared since 2017. So many nominations for Adele for an album that was BORING and if anyone is honest, they wouldn't remember one song on that **** besides Easy on me. Let's talk about how those white people dont have to lift a finger to get nominated while many black R&B acts are ignored for superior work. 

 

If Beyoncé doesn't completely ignore the Grammys this year, i will feel let down as a fan. At some point you gotta stand up and not let these racist institutions play in your face like that.

 

Better yet, she should book a performance somewhere on the same night as the Grammys. Like play those games with them.

Adele's stunt at the Grammys gave me so much second hand embarrassment. But it was the perfect avenue for Beyoncé's haters to come at Beyoncé.

 

I feel the same way when these random celebrities go on talk shows to talk about how she's "Queen of the world" and they're peasants who were "blessed" to be in her presence, they literally use these words knowing that it only brings negative attention to Beyoncé.

Buzzfeed singlehandedly brainwashed media culture and they aren't genuine fans of her. At that point they are just talking to be a part of the status quo and mimicking every white gay, "Yaas Queen Bay slay!". Even the most dedicated Hive doesn't go around acting like she's god and know her to be a BORING stay at home aunty that goes to the Hamptons every other month.

Is it bad for me to say that Beyonce has indeed transitioned into a legacy act? The award shows are showing that she's good enough to be nominated but not recognized/celebrated. I don't remember which artist said this but they had a point about black artists only sweeping rnb/hip hop categories.

#JusticeforBeyonce - She should win ROTY and AOTY this year!  Not holding my breath, but mildly hopeful nonetheless 

I mean if we're being objective how could any MFer beat Virgos groove for PERFORMANCE or Plastic off the Sofa for PERFORMANCE.  She at least has to have those two in the bag.

Great post! Nothing but the truth. Also, if she were to win this year it would be deserved but also feel somewhat bittersweet because this should not be her first win.

She will most likely win the 3 R&B categories and Best Dance Recording. Everything else is a lost cause with how the votes will split. 

 

However, over the last two years, the Academy added about 4k new voting members (66% of whom are non-white), bringing the total to about 14.5k voting members eligible to vote in the general categories. It will be interesting to see how this will impact her chances of scoring a main category win. 

I want Alien + Cuff It + Heated for the Grammys. 

 

Also, is Honey Dijon the first trans woman nominated for AOTY?

She received more noms than any other artist and some of you still aren’t happy

 

I personally couldn’t care less. If she wins, she wins. If she loses, she loses. Either way, she’s still the most awarded artist in the history of the Grammys. 

 

She’ll almost definitely win a couple. But seeing the nominees for AOTY, I do not think Renaissance will win. I do think it deserves to, of course. But I think a large chunk of the Grammy voters would vote for Voyage by Abba before they vote Renaissance by Beyoncé. It’s just the way it is. 

 

Anyway, does it really surprise anyone that Adele’s music is more appealing to a wider group of people than Beyoncé? A Grammys voters are just a smaller sample of the population as a whole. You can’t seriously expect Beyoncé talking about “I’m that *****” and being explicit with regards to sex to be more appealing to a larger array of demographics than Adele’s music. Adele literally appeals to people of every race, gender, age, and to artists of every genre. 

 

Of course, the Grammy voters are artists themselves and should recognise the art, even if they prefer another artist and their art. But we all know human beings are not generally able to put their subjectivity aside to do the right thing and be artistically objective. 

 

Either way, I don’t see Bey or Adele winning it. Like I said, I think Abba is the biggest threat, followed by Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar and Harry Styles. 

 

Here’s how I think the voting will go (although we will never get to see the full results):

 

1. Abba 

2. Harry Styles

3. Adele

4. Beyoncé

5. Bad Bunny  

 

I just don’t see how she can possibly get more voters from Grammy voters than those I placed above her. 

 

That’s why I’m not even the littlest bit convinced that she’ll win AOTY.
