I know somewhere Bey cares for the grammys and will continue to show up (maybe even for business reasons). But the truth is I simply will have to disagree with Beyoncé on this. I wish she'd not show up and move along. I know it matters a lot to the many collaborators etc. But I just can't. 

 

ST was disrespectful and I told myself not again. Then Kendrick. And then Lemonade? Nah. Sorry but there's no going back for me. And I feel sad secretly that bey will continue to care and show up. 

 

I really want bey to show them a giant middle finger. Some of the greatest artists and albums of ALL time have no grammys. 

 

Even more than that I feel extra insulted with this most nominations and wins thing. Everything is genre specific. Like awwww let's give these cute coloreds a category they can fight in while we reward painful mediocrity over and over again for the big awards.

 

I've freed myself from the shackles of grammys and their **** and not even Beyoncé can drag me back. 

 

I will pray to the God I don't even believe in she doesn't perform. Which is crazy cuz the thing I want most from her is a performance. I hate it all ?? 

 

My have it all scenario will be she opens with a performance for the grammys and then goes home to her kids and has the producers go and accept her awards and then later posts a shady thank you note on her website. 

I don't think she will perform. She seems over it all. Probably just attend like last time. I don't get fans who say they hope she doesn't go, we literally got nothing this era, it's the only place that we know she will go. 

 

Seems she is showing some the visuals? hopefully that's a good sign that it's coming.

No, only the actual writers and producers of new content get the grammy. The others get a certificate not a grammy.

They need to bring back the 33% rule (I think it was 33??) A chunk of these names would be removed if they kept that rule, and she would be getting less drags and a better chance to win tbh

If Macklemore can win Best Rap Album then Beyonce can win for Best Dance/Electronic. 

I honestly just want her to win with VG and POTS. She's going to win AOTY at some point, so I'm not too worried about that. I would love to see ABBA being honored with what is by all accounts their final work together

It's kind of a catch 22 situation. 

 

I understand her not entertaining it. Like, they can't keep playing in her face and she tap dance for them. Since the Lemonade/444 fiasco, The Carters have been purposefully...distant. 2021's "return" was only after the new regime came in and they handed her all those over the top noms for Black Parade and had her make history on air. It very much gave, "I'm not diving all the way back in, but make it worth my while and I'll attend". 

 

Even then, I don't see those wins for Savage + BP totally repairing the damage done. Grammy honchos and show producers have to prove the reconciliation (with a win in one or more of the big categories). Bey's all about image and regality, so I can't see her risking going all out with a big performance only to get snubbed again. Her participation would be exclusively to their benefit (see: using her for ratings and her snub as a storyline + device to prop up her less talented peers). 

 

At the same time, like you said, it's realistically the only award show platform I could see her performing on now that's she only does "premium/limited visibility" promo wise. So, a performance would be everything. 

 

I believe with everything in me that her attending the 2021 show was due to it being guaranteed / preempted to her that attending would be made worth her while. Note how she only "appeared" on screen when it was time to collect her award with Meg? Sure it's a ceremony, but it's a TV show and they will want ratings and moments. If any artist can throw their weight around when it comes to the bending the producers of the SHOW (not the voting committee), it's Bey. And again, the Grammys is a televised show. They need big names, big moments, and big performances. Especially at this time that their rep is on the line (after The Weeknd, Drake, etc backlash).

 

If they can guarantee her that (so becoming most awarded artist ever and/or a big category win...ideally AOY) then I can see her attending/performing. If not, then her "involvement" ought to be as minimal as possible.

 

Edit: Just seen that Jesse Collins (who is signed to Roc Nation) is co-producing the show. So, at the bare minimum, you can bet that much like 2021, she'll conveniently pop up as, when, and only if it makes sense. Because The Carters will absolutely have the heads-up.

Break My Soul deserved to be in those dance categories and they have to deal with it. Winning is another story, but nomination? she's right where she belongs.

If act II is an album i kinda want it to be more dance music? I’ve been listening to a lot of it lately and there’s so many sounds she would sound amazing on

Assuming Act 2 really is a new album/mini-era, it'll almost certainly have to come next year. 

 

Pretending for a second that Grammy voting is totally transparent and based on the voter's autonomy, it won't serve Ren well to send the message that "more" will be bolted on to an otherwise standalone body of work.

 

It's almost like MJ announcing a deluxe or part 2 to Thriller during voting period for the original album.

 

With an artist's of Bey's magnitude, everyone knows any such new act/s will be a big deal and possibly reshape how we see the era and what the "focus" / enduring tracks are. Thus possibly making people hold on voting for her.

 

In a perfect world, she should:

 

* Drop the Renaissance visuals anytime from NOW to the end of voting period (Jan 4th) to boost Ren's visibility to voters and the public (a huge impact will also make any kind of BS they try come Grammy night worse for them).  

 

* Tease act 2 in the visuals for act 1, but formally announce it's release date on Grammy night (during or after). Regardless of which way the night goes, announcing that "more" is coming is a savvy way to use the spotlight of the night to her benefit. 

 

* Drop Act 2 (hopefully alongside visuals) in like April (so a two-ish month pre-order window like Ren). Gives people time to familiarize themselves with the new music ahead of the tour. 

 

* If no visuals come with Act 2 on release, then release them alongside the start of tour May/June(?) for another "OMG" burst of excitement for everything. 

 

She really doesn't have to do a lot, but if smart about it, everything can benefit in a circular way.

Takes like this really remind me how diverse Bey's audience has become. 

 

As a fan from the literal first DC track to now, albums like B'Day, 4, and Renaissance are literally who Beyonce IS artistically IMO.. She's done other things, played in different lanes, and delved into deeper, darker subject matter when necessary, but when I (and I'd argue most ppl) think about "BEYONCE" it's the ferocious, uptempo, vocally driven, and feel-good albums that are front of mind.

 

Lemonade, IMO, is great but is the least conventional "Beyonce" album she's released. So, it always blows my mind when stans point to it as her best. Then again, maybe its secret sauce is the fact it's so left in comparison. 

I agree. Renaissance's weak point is its lyrics. After sitting with the album for over 3 months and sharing it with so many people, there truly are moments where I wish it was lyrically stronger. Not like it's not possible. 

 

I was listening to Agnes' last album and its dance but shines in the lyrics category too. 

 

I don't really hold it against Renaissance. It's stunning and exceptional in every other category and the best out of all the nominated albums. 

 

Also I realized that most of my favorite little moments from Renaissance are also the pockets where its lyrically strong

Why are so many names repeated again and again. Even Beyoncé? Do they think there are 4 different Beyoncés that exist and worked on this album? Lazy. Or just wanted to push a narrative. 

 

Anyway congratulations on Ren's 8 nominations. I don't mind her losing AOTY. The whole discourse will be centered around the number of writers and samples. 

 

I really want Virgo's Groove to win however.
