Bad Bunny won't win AOTY lmao.

Commercial success isn't enough, ST would have already sweeped otherwise.

I know this award is a joke but the point is, she has cemented herself in history with the likes of Whitney and Lauryn. And on top of that she won an award for a genre that completely ridiculed and ex

As much as I enjoyed Bad Bunny’s album I don’t see it winning :rip: yes Grammys is a popularity contest more than awarding talent, but I can see Benito sweeping Latin Grammys and BBMA.

AOTY most likely be one of the YTs.

The narrative that Bey doesn’t care about the Grammys like she wasn’t giving them the middle finger, yet STILL not only showed up the next year... but also risking COVID for The Gift. Like please. :rip:

These rules dont apply to latinos and whites, only to black people.  When Adele and Taylor win Album of the year it's always mostly on acclaim, rarely on true art. Self Titled deserved it more than both and still didn't win. Same for Lemonade and you know Renaissance wont win it either but wait next year, the same reasons Beyoncé's renaissance couldn't win it, Taylor will win it.

It's a game they play win an artist they DONT want to support anymore, it happens in this industry a lot. The only storyline the Grammys want to promote this year is Beyoncé vs Adele.

Beyoncé needs to release Act II and Act III and not give them the attention they want. Also she really needs to NOT attend and pay them dust. That's when she will break free from this tired cycle.

And cried when she didn't win AOTY

Like lets not pretend she doesn't like the GRAMMYs :rip:

Nah, she just cares about the GRAMMYs, always has, it's like it's the only thing that gives her validation or something

She's from a time where winning GRAMMYs actually meant something.

I’m so tired of “Bey doesn’t care about this and that”, she does. She does things her way and it either works or backfires. :deadbanana:

While she hasn't won the big awards really, she is the most nominated female, and the most awarded female.  Seems on point for her talent

She was pregnant and emotional, hormones. Do you really think she cried because she lost it? C'mon now. Adele's speech using a pregnant woman's name to put attention on her win was the true crime that night.

If Beyoncé didn't have a strong support system around her, she would have been the second Britney the way these people try her daily.

Beyoncé 100% cares about the Grammy's, and definitely wants an AOTY win. But I don't see her ever getting one. She was being passed up when she did play the game, but these days she's giving even less energy.

I think Harry or Adele are going to get it this year.

Beyoncé will always be nominated though and get a front row seat.

There's a big dichotomy when it comes to Beyoncé in the industry.

On one hand she's acclaimed and respected while constantly being held as an example of perfection (which has its own negatives obviously).

Her peers praise her routinely as well in media, so much so that she FEELS very overhyped at times.

Despite that though, she's usually passed up for major awards. The Beck win for AOTY and James Corden's win for Carpool over Homecoming show this.

Her projects may be universally acclaimed, but at least behind the scenes, her peers as well as industry heads can easily pass her up for major awards, and do so routinely.

Grammy's are peer voted, and it speaks volumes that Beyoncé has yet to win an AOTY when women like Taylor and Adele (who sort of have her status) have won multiple.

Just saying.

You could argue that Harry, ABBA and Adele are going to split votes too and Bad Bunny is gonna win tho.

this will probably be the case.

Both ST and Lemonade didn't appeal the general committee sadly though. The former was too sexual for a bunch of mediocre and wrinkled white men, the latter was straight-out boycotted.

Now it's different. She could win this one. Adele hasn't campaigned as much as she did with 25, her era feels like a total non event. Bad Bunny and Harry Styles are lucky enough to even be nominated, so the competition is Beyoncé vs ABBA imo aka two undisputed legends.

I'm also going to need Hive pages in Twitter to shut up a out the Grammys this year.

Every year Beyoncé looses its a think piece on race and how the Grammys are cancelled, but the moment she puts out a project its back to "AOTY is in the bag", "industry folks are saying Beyoncé has it this year".

When the Grammys put out statements like how Votes may be split between Adele and Beyoncé, or predictions that say things like Beyoncé SHOULD win AOTY, they're essentially admitting that she's not getting it.

But it'll be the same story this year, and the next album too, if we even get that. :rip:

first time posting in this base. she has always been my favorite pop girl with Rih but Ren actually made me a big, big stan.

I won’t be watching that stale ass show. I already know how it’s going to play out. :rip: Today was fulfilling enough seeing that one Taylor stan and the rats meltdown. :ahh: I already know that one Motomami stan is SULKING.

They wouldn't even let MJ have multiple AOTY wins. It's definitely a game they play with black artists. Artists like Mariah have also never even won AOTY. But Taylor and Adele have it 2-3 times? K

It's really sad though, because undoubtedly, she should have won for both BEYONCE and Lemonade, and 4 wasn't even nominated, and it's top 3 in her discog

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

I think she’ll win AOTY when we least expect it, which is now tbh

Interestingly, Stevie Wonder has 3, he was collecting then in the 1970's. He won for Talking Book and Fulfillingness First Finale consecutively in 1974 and 1975. When Paul Simon won in '76 he famously thanked Stevie for not putting out an album that year, then the next year ('77), Stevie won again for SITKOL :rip:

Wonder why Stevie had that award on lock, but again his classic period has still yet to be matched. He wrote, produced and played on all those records almost entirely by himself.

I stopped watching there was too many blatant snubs. And the whole concept on popularity > talented bodies of work is wild.
