Chloe is young and has not studied the divas of pop's past enough and it shows. Her sexuality is overt and very sleazy looking versus sultry and seductive.

 

It's why Beyonce was always able to garner respect, it was always a seduction on stage, not a quick ****.

They were all omnipresent at one point and they ALL have a history of retreating as they went further into their careers. Beyonce is not a newbie and is not trying to establish herself. she's earned the right to do what she wants.

 

MJ went a whole 14 years denying interview requests and did next to no award show performances for a decade.

Its because in a way the way she launches her albums is honestly engaging as **** and oftentimes really fun and well-thought out. It leaves u under the impression the rest of the album era will be the same.. unfortunately Its just that - an impression and not reality.

I think everyone should hold out until the VMAs to complain. I'm still convinced a trailer is dropping there and then on social media immediately afterward.

i hope so but i also thought a commercial would run during the BET Awards too with clip of BMS video & album date....

 

personally...i'm more anxious about performances than the videos. i really hope we don't have to wait until the Grammy's to see her perform any of these songs. i think a concert special like Roseland where she does the full album in sequence would take off pressure on the tour setlist. b/c we will still have performances even for the songs that will be left out.

ehhh???? Flawless alone got more impact than that album. Bey got a tour, several memorable videos and 3 award show’s performances. What did Folklore get? One visual, no tour and one bad performance in the Grammys? Is that really what you want?

There's nothing that terrible about the rollout. She kept us well fed and entertained well into album release week - tracklist/booklet reveal, remixes, merch, the visuals teaser.  She ever pretended like "the leak" was a big deal (as if all albums that come with physicals don't leak about 24-36 hrs ahead of release) and wrote a cute little note to show appreciation.

 

Sure, it's unusual to withhold the lead's music video, but it's not because it's not finished. I know she rented out 7 sound stages in LA and filmed visuals simultaneously for about 8 days in early June, and some of the visuals were already finished earlier this year. The visuals for ACT I are ready. She is withholding them on purpose. 

 

I'm sure her team wants to revive the hype around the album towards the end of the year when the Grammy nominations come out and the voting process begins. With the additional vinyls being released in mid-October, I can see her releasing the visuals around then. Maybe she'll also do some sort of TV special around the holidays. And there's a documentary dropping at some point, only I'm not entirely sure if they'll change it to include footage on all 3 acts or release it before act 2.

I work adjacent to the music industry and have some friends connected to her team. The renting of sound stages, I know for sure. What exactly she filmed there - I'm speculating. 

 

The documentary is also something I heard about from a friend who's been very reliable in the past. All I know about it is that it was meant to be released about a year ago around her birthday (followed by a singular album later in Sept), and around the end of August, her entire plan for B7 shifted to a multi-album project. So that part of his tea ended up being true. That's why I'm not sure how that documentary has changed since its original version. And even with the original B7 being a singular album plan, she had not filmed visuals for that version of the album. So the plan to lead with the music isn't a last-minute thing. Don't know too much more than this, sadly.

That's true. And the teaser wasn't something they put together in the last minute. It was edited together and ready to go exactly a week (Aug 1) before they released it. So it's entirely possible that something in their rollout strategy changed in early August. That's when the vinyls got delayed, too.

vinyl probably got delayed because they're pressing new ones with the new "Heated" lyric change and "Energy"/"Milkshake" ad lib removed. that's my guess.
