Which OST songs do you think that will become the most successful? 

 

The most likely ones in my opinion are Defying Gravity, Popular and The Wizard and I, but I don't know. 

 

They might put an original song out, but I'm not sure, because it can piss the musical fans. 

Her singing What Is This Feeling? is probably going to overtake all of my other top Ari songs

But he might be also considering the time that the movie has been in development, they started writing and casting like over a year ago if I recall, so late 2023 could happen, and even if takes years Ariana’s involvement won’t take more than some months, I just hope AG7 is released before the OST

I think with the "Wicked will take years" comment, he was just pointing out to the interviewer that movies take time, because the interview kinda rudely asked him what takes movies so long. And technically the Wicked has been in development for over a decade. It's had multiple studios, directors, etc attached to it, but it's never actually got off the ground. Universal even announced a December 20, 2019 release date for the movie back in 2016 when it had a different director attached to it, but then it got completely pulled and they decided to do Cats instead.

 

Jon Chu joined the project as director in early 2021, and Ariana and Cynthia were the first people to ever actually be announced in the roles of Elphaba and Glinda, so it feels like it is actually going to happen this time. However, even this Jon Chu version has already seen delays. It was originally supposed to begin production in March of 2022 in Atlanta, then got pushed to summer 2022 in the UK. So hopefully there will be no more delays, and production will begin this summer as planned. I'd think a late 2023 release date would still be possible if they finished filming before the end of this year.

I doubt she won’t release an album within the next two years, AG7 is def coming before Wicked, and damn two filmssss

I really don’t want to be pessimistic but it’s a really risky move.
 

John M. Chu’s last blockbuster musical flopped in epic proportions (as did West Side Story) so betting on the movie doing well enough to warrant a second in a coveted theater slot like Christmas not once but twice sounds horrifying.

 

Maybe we’ll get AG7 and tour in between now and 2024 but something tells me the tour will be limited dates and she won’t even bother to do to the limited promotion Positions got.
