Great numbers ofc but it's concerning the sales keep trending downward.

This is admittedly impressive. But I firmly believe that one era trades on the quality/success of the last. I don't think that the singles' reception this era bodes well for the next album.

I don't think people are dragging Britney, they are actually praising her that Taylor still couldn't beat her Oops sales.

We must bow down to the greatest but respect Taylor and Britney for rounding out the trinity.

 

Britney doing 1.3M in 6 days or something and holding her accolade for 15 years with all of the big stars that came out since

Taylor for having the loyal fanbase going through her country pop days to her full on pop days and staying with her after a crack in the brand. I doubt even Adele will be able to pull off million plus sales 4 times in a row.

Adele just slaying the entire game indiscriminately of your gender.

 

Great moments for all of their legacies.

I just hope Taylor puts her album up for streaming by December.

I'm confused.  They state reputation surpassed 1989 in their final rumor mill article posted earlier today:

Yet, according to HDD, 1989 recorded 1.316m units during release week: 1.316 > 1.29 last I checked.

 

Since 1989 launched in 2014 near the beginning of the SPS era, I'm not sure whether those numbers were pure sales or not.  She had pulled her music from Spotify by then (?) and didn't add the album to AM until 2015 (?), plus I believe 1989 released ~1 month before Billboard began counting SPS.  Do I have my history wrong?  Perhaps the 1.316 number includes TEAs but not SEAs?

 

If, in fact, those units are sales only, then reputation will have come up some 49,000 units short of 1989.  At the beginning of the week they proclaimed it would easily beat it by over 100,000 with 200,000+ not out of the question.  Weird.

 

Another possibility is they are stating the 1.29m SPS for reputation from HDD is > the 1.287m for 1989 from Billboard.  It would be comical if they mistakenly used a Billboard receipt in writing that article, given their staunch hatred of 'the Bible'.

Didn't her label predict 1.5m for her?  Should have put on streaming services lol the crazy fans would still buy it and other people would hear it at least once.

I should have said shading instead of dragging. I think they are still hopeful she will surpass it tbh. They'd rather her be #2 than Britney.

 

But much like the RIAA Adele, Taylor and Britney remain the trinity of album sales

 

What will happen is the shift in album certs?

 

8th female Britney 34x platinum (37.5x eligible without SPS) 40x platinum with SPS

9th Adele 28x platinum

10th taylor 26.5x platinum

 

Taylor will pull ahead by the end of the reputation era with SPS and then by adele's next era Britney will be knocked down to 10th.

 

Trinity and top 10 females in the US. 

 

I hope Taylor can go platinum obviously first week but double platinum before the years end and eventually end up with another consistent 4x platinum even if that's with SPS.

this was my thought. Billboard is still the official source no matter how much they hate it and they had to accept it here  

Let's be honest with your gay selves, anything above 1 million is phenomenal. She outsold everyone  with 4 days of sales.
