With Tate gearing up for another era w/ Housewife, I genuinely have to ask... what exactly is Tate McRae's artistic identity? And I don't mean the dancing, the sex appeal or the occasional Britney comparisons. I'm talking about the actual music.

A lot of her discography gives me the impression of songs that have been passed around a writing camp until they're polished enough for literally anybody to record. Even when she's credited, I rarely get the sense that these songs could ONLY have come from Tate McRae. There's no real personality or perspective that makes the material distinctly hers.

And before anyone brings up Britney, let's not act like having outside writers automatically means you can't have an identity. Britney could sing somebody else's demo and somehow make it unmistakably Britney. That's exactly what I feel is missing here.

She's had multiple eras now, and I still feel like I know more about her choreography than I do about her as an artist. It's almost impressive how much music she's released without leaving a particularly distinct creative fingerprint.

Because she is. She's just a source of quick TikTokable songs & moments without any long-term memorability. I really don't understand why people are "stanning" her & getting into stan wars over her instead of just being casual listeners. There's nothing there

Because she's humble and minds her own business.

These are the reasons why THINK LATER charted for 124 weeks on BB200 and So Close to What still charting so high after 85 weeks and easily selling 3M units in US.

And she still feels fresh af after selling that many units back to back.

Her artistic identity is her voice which is unmistakably her whether one likes it or not. When Adela's Red Bottoms dropped, everyone was saying it sounds like TATE, not Britney or anyone else.

tbh I think she has like 0 personality, or at least decides to not show much of it. There is like 0 memorable moments from her from interviews or red carpets. I feel like with TM4 she has enough foundation to build on that tho.

Also her music feels very uninspired and generic. She has some nice melodies I think she will improve on while finding her own signature style

She is and this is why I like her she doesn't pretend to be these fake wannabe songwriters or im not like the other girls it's boring she delivers bops and that's okay !

She's sort of a product of the industry but she fills a void commercially that's been missed in pop music for a while.

Her music might not be super reinventing the wheel but it's polished and she is an incredible performer. It's honestly refreshing to see in an industry of "humble, down to earth singer-songwriters".

She has fun with what she does and she loves being a pop star and I am here for it!
