Of course I trust them. It's not about lack of trust. It's about continued peace of mind.

I believe that no matter how much you trust somebody, you should still also take harm reduction measures. I've never had a partner that disagreed with that.

Just as I would never stop taking my pancreatic enzyme because it's been six years since my last pancreatitis attack, I wouldn't stop taking PrEP just because I have a monogamous partner. The risk is obviously significantly lower, but never zero.

I refuse to have sex that doesn't feel safe.
