It's exactly on brand for the Catholic Church. The Church has always been traditionally conservative, the problem is society has moved so far right that the Church seems moderate in comparison.

Both of the last popes were left they just aren't allowed to change things because a lot of their followers are conservatives and they would lose them.

This pope is actually doing what many past popes avoided which is using social media to influence and use there direct hand in power to actually move something. The past popes basically were mostly secluded and relied heavily on PR. This pope is actually not only speaking out against fascism, but also warning people on the rise of dictatorships around the globe, the consequences of AI and modern struggles the average person is facing around the world. While also preaching the teachings of the Catholic Church and staying true to its core vision and values. In other words the pope is using the Catholic Church what is meant too be used for. It's no wonder trump hates him.

I grew up as a jehoovas witness with a terrible experience during childhood. I avoided the church of any kind for 10 years. I recently went back into it but now as a converted Catholic. Mostly because I had more faith and felt safer around Catholics than I did any kind of Protestant church.
