Tyla - 'A*POP'

Featured Replies

Her debut album is a master piece while this long dragged out sophomore album is master garbage. Four year wait for this? The EP was last year is better than this entire project rip

She sounds great on double blind, what are you talking about

Omg why are they taking so long to reveal JAPAN and Target edition bonus tracks,

He's probably talking about the terrible mixing. It sounds like a voice memo

Is the album released in those countries

Crazy of Me and I Dont Care are really the sonic direction that I love. She could have gone the sultry aquatic direction and called the album ALLURE and done sensual bops since that's where she shines most.

Is this good? How much partial did they debut album do?

This is mehhh, especially for the number of songs and CHANEL being counted. Looks like ~5-8M debut globally.

I listened and found myself disappointed. I think she needs more time to develop. My issue is the constant Afrobeats music. No, I don't want her to abandon her original sound or forget where she came from, but she and her team must realize that only a small population of music consumers actively seek that kind of music out. Not to mention how Afrobeats/Afropop is still a struggling genre in the US.

It will be RARE for a song like Water to blow up around the globe, and with this album it appears they think they will have another on their hands somehow. Idk if it's just me, but I'd rather her take an Aaliyah route rather than one akin to Rihanna. People still consume Rihanna's music so Tyla doesn't fill a void there.

MORE R&B. More seductive image/brand (siren-like). Tour announcement. More features with mainstream artists. New management. More drive/ambition. She could be dominating the music scene if it were this way.

@X~MoviePoP didn't lie when they said those Grammys gave either her or her team some false sense of superstardom. She has so much more work to do.

Clock it.

I think if she wants to go the shakira route as well she needs to get better producers and songs written for her tbh

the japan bonus is "selfish"

it's been pretty obvious. none of her songs or performances, looks etc bring that passion. which is fine. she gives cute songs that can come on shuffle and we need more black girls in pop.

She did have the spark before but I think she's lost it. When she performed Water for the first time on Fallon in 2023, she was literally radiant and effervescent. Then she stunned with her met debut and I thought we were watching the birth of a supperstar. Everything after push to start has been a downward slide, from her music, styling, performances to her persona.

Absolutely! Whoever she has working on her music currently have to be from the African continent or at least have roots there. The truth is, they are naturally boxing her off to just that region by making her entire image/persona/sound strictly that. It's nice to see people around the globe be a bit more receptive to Afropop but we all know that she won't be dropping a Water every era rip I didn't even think about the Shakira route which is wayyy more global than one similar to Aaliyah

Watch they get another Grammy and feel like she popped off with this one

I do like double blind it has that 2000's RnB party feeling.

I think the problem is that she raised the bar really high with her debut, EP and then following with Chanel.

Lol no way ,why not at least make it a European digital only track ? Is it her or her team just trying to sabotage her? ,the song is literally eurodance what the hell are they going to do with it in Japan? My god this is so stupid rip
