this is so disappointing, she had so much potential to be a massive star if only the music matched up. This is a massive downgrade from her debut album.

so far I'm finding myself skipping the slower tracks and really enjoying the mid/uptempos, which are her strengths and what I want from Tyla

update: Yeah, only 5 saved for me: Chanel ofc, Kiss, Double Blind, Mr. Nonchalant, and That girl.

Don't think I will get into anything else even overtime

Looking at the songwriting/production credits has me wondering if her budget got cut after the WWP derailment. Felt like the entire industry would've wanted to write/produce for her after 2023/2024 but a lot of songwriter/producer names repeated in the credits.

Like, imagine what someone like Amy Allen/Julia Michaels/Theron Thomas (who co-wrote Been Thinking), hell even Charli XCX could've come up with in terms of top lines over these beats…

Any updates on where that album went?

THAT GIRL INTRIGUED ME ON FIRST LISTEN AND MORE AND MORE I PLAY IT SHE GROWING ON ME

That Girl is the only song that has potential deadbanana2

The album peaks in the the first 4 tracks which was a really good run of tracks but then it just face plants I fear.

It's Double Blind for me!

I think you hit the nail. I think it's a production issue with her overall. Some of these needed to be elevated with some grease and razzle dazzle.

Wow sis really let me down.. where are the bops?

Her debut was so fresh and energetic. The visuals don't match the vibe of this album.

Selfish is better than every track on here except Is It & She Did It Again

It's just so flat. A shame because her Been Thinking, Girl Next Door, her debut and WWP were much more dynamic in comparison.

  1. KISS

  2. IS IT

  3. SHE DID IT AGAIN (feat. Zara Larsson)

  4. THAT GIRL

  5. MR. NONCHALANT

  6. RIGHT NOW

  7. DOUBLE BLIND

  8. CHANEL

  9. DYNAMITE

  10. MR. MEDIA

  11. BLISS

  12. HOT TUBS

  13. IS IT LOVE

  14. I DON'T CARE (feat. Babalwa M)

  15. CRAZY OF ME (feat. MaWhoo)

This is my tracklist, the album truly ends at 13 for me. IS IT LOVE isn't as bad as I was thinking after hearing the album, because there's truly a couple worse tracks deadbanana4

What I will say is this album has been extremely divisive on what songs people enjoy.

It's just crazy that a banger like Disco has remained unreleased for nearly half a decade now when it's better than 1/3 of her discography.

Hmm

The album is not bad, is a bit meh though

Im very disappointed from Kiss . I was expecting a massive BOP and we got a cute song instead . I feel like they are trying to re heat Water somehow . They should have gone harder on this one . But I wouldn't be surprised if it catches the GP attention

She did it again is the clear mainstream and im suprised it didnt smash

I still dont understand why the album is called APop and what she has to do with it

i'm just hearing this, and how upsetting omfg. there has to be some red tape surrounding why this song never came out, because it's GREAT.

Just had my first listen. It's a very nice album overall. Albeit, I don't find it as amazing as her debut personally (yet), it still has some great tracks on it.

That Girl is probably my favorite on first listen. I'm definitely saving that one to the playlist. The closer (Hot Tubs) kind of reminds me of an experimental R&B track, something in the vein of Sex For Breakfast by Xtina or a Mariah album track from the '00s.

Mr. Nonchalant is another huge bop. I could also see a lot of other tracks being growers too, so will I for certain have to give the whole album a few more spins as a whole.

The singles she picked were definitely the right choices (Chanel & She Did It Again especially), since they have the most potential and sound the most GP/radio-friendly out of the whole album.

I mean.. let's not pretend like Music of the Sun & A Girl Like Me were listenable albums from start to finish , no one remembers those albums, the singles are the only good thing about them, so let's get a break for TYLA, she has a great debut and maybe this album isn't the best but she has some good singles on it.

So it's this a LIZZO?

No, I wouldn't say that. Lizzo's 2nd (major label) album had a multiplatinum Grammy winning hit on it.

Her label dropped the ball with this. This album is so good and fun summer pop. they should have stuck with a single and promo even harder
