the initial reactions in here had me worried but I enjoyed every song except Fairytale

I don't get the criticism about lack of standouts when we have That Girl and Kiss back to back at the start of the album Mr Nonchalant and Double Blind are big bops too

Kiss the biggest bait and switch of all time with that amazing intro and then...

Double blind is the best song on the album

the reviews on AOTY are kinda a mixed bag.

personally I think this album is kinda good. It's eclectic but suffers a bit from becoming too serviceable.

In my book a solid 7.5/10

I like Kiss and Mr Nonchalant the most out of these new tracks but the rest of the album (and the album as a whole) really lacks identity. That cover/aesthetic is such bait

Yh it really is bad

I think it might be the same as with female rappers. All of the sudden they want to prove they are versatile and it's not working.

The melodies don't work over some of the beats. It's not catchy enough to be pop. Not even to mention the features with shakey vocals.

I think she should have went for her signature sound and infused some of the songs with house like I Don't Care and Show Me Love.

I was so excited for her release.

I think they should go all out with Kiss and call it a day. Its ok to have an album with only 2-3 hits, that was common practice in the 2000s.

It's A-Chop. Nothing exciting or outstanding, tracks bleed into each other. The writing is poor, there's nothing to write home about the production. The way she went on about it I thought it was going to be an exploration of diverse African sounds but its all watered down amapiano, dancehall, and R&B. Basically her debut album but even more watered down and lower quality. Best of luck to all those Tyla stans who talked all that **** about Rih when the numbers drop

im rooting for her, but cant lie i am pretty disappointed even though it wont make me stop listening to her. some songs really emphasized her limited talent (vocals, vision, emotional delivery, writing).

all the songs talk about physical attraction and from the opposite end, like you like me dont you and it doesn't develop from there, we don't know does tyla like this person, ok at chanel we do find out in "please dont bother me" line not really... and she can be bought, how else to interpret chanel, which is the only song where it developed from more than "look at me". i do like braggy music, but even in saweetie raps it develops to what shes gonna do with it.

tyla beats are good, but require different melody, attitude and energy to sing over them, for instance one is caribbean sounding and she needs to do the "chant" tyla sings in a very lazy/tired/not interested way with no melody and lyrics that were already said on the album "you want me my waist my back" which as a listener you start wondering is she ok (she also has obsession with capes)

KISS，but it's literally the intro with that awesome beat lol. but it's overall a cute song tho, just could do better imo

I've relistened to A*Pop multiple times and now I'm doing a relisten of debut, yeah the drop in production quality is very noticeable
