while yes this thread was made to be a lighthearted joke i was serious about helping stans that aren't very much in touch with modern streaming.

i'm rooting for Madonna's success and a woman in her 60s having a massive comeback would set a precedent that would not only inspire all y'all faves in 30 years, but women around the world

it was seen as a complete anomaly when cher did it at 52 nowadays that isn't even close to the end of woman's creative life, and it's unfair that is the oldest and only precedent of success in the industry

while i don't think madonna having a smash hit during this era would break all misogynistic stereotypes, it'd certainly be considered the first historic step in defeating an ageist industry

i'd like to think that in 30 years when i turn 50 if i'm lucky enough and Lana turns 68, and a miracle happens so that she's still releasing music, i could remember back in the 20's how medoner successfully reinvented what it meant to be a pop star at that age

Well like I said to Miss thing @Deactivatedos the title did make me chuckle , I was just going off on a tangent no one asked for about how we should embrace the older pop elders and their fans of similar advanced age experience in a culture that is becoming increasingly more hostile to anything over the age of 25. I didn't think you said anything too out of line !

The older you get the more stubborn and resistant to new habits you are so considering she has fans that blasted her music on walkmans before MP3 was even a thing there's obviously a good chunk of this group that is not familiar with Spotify. For most gen z streaming music on apps is super natural but for late millennials and older it's not, for example i just listen to music on YouTube (not on the app, but on the same browser i open ATRL). I only used Spotify for 3 months once because of a free trial. I don't miss it.

I wore out 3 "Madonna" albums on cassette.

I've been streaming on Spotify since 2021.

I finally listed to "I'm Breathless" recently. I just played "Vogue" in 1990 on cassette.

My car still has a cd player so I listen to my Madonna cds sometimes.
