Most new songs hitting number 1 in the 10s were generic af, it's just that now it's becoming increasingly difficult for established artists to release a new song that captures people's attention. Looking at the top 20 on Spotify over the past year it's so clear that listeners are hijacked by nostalgia culture which is permeating every level of social media. And it's just getting worse. It's not like Beauty and the Beat is an avant garde masterpiece lol. Everybody just hates the current era we're living in right now because everyone is suffering (at least) financially.

And that's my macro theory on why this song could be doing better lol

This will probably get a good second (third?) wind with the album release, but I hope she releases a new single on June 5. Preferably not Begged, because releasing a ballad in the summer is not a good idea.
