Hakeem Jeffries flops when asked about ICE

Featured Replies

Most members on EACH side would never call for ICE to be abolished. Some of you are living in a fantasy world. ace

Why is that? I thought the Democratic party was against fascism, and is clearly the way to vote if we don't want to live in a fascist country? Why would the "anti-fascist" party not support a fascist enforcement agency? 🤔

ICE was never meant to be weaponized the way Trump administration is doing it. It was even utilized by Obama. Would you consider him a fascist? Wait don't answer that I'm sure everyone here hates Obama too. ace

A creation of GWB's post 9/11 security apparatus?? lol

How can you then expect anyone to the left of Dick Cheney not to think you deserve complete misery and suffering for being a fascist?

Is Obama not a fascist?

I would remind everyone that it was Obama, who awarded Tom Homan a medal, for deporting "illegal" immigrants. The same man who currently works for ICE under the Trump Administration.

ICE is a necessary aspect of government. It’s not however being utilized the way it was originally intended. I do think in its current form it needs to be abolished and rebuilt from the ground up, with necessary safeguards in place to prevent something like this from ever happening again. I think that’s the talking point the Dems should be going with.

Hakeem is what I think as corporate slop. He is the human equivalent of a 401k rip The fact the he's my congressman too, but he's barely here.

Leave it to a ***** who was up and down defending Katy Perry from her rightful lashings last year to have such an unmitigated lack of imagination for what is achievable in the richest country in the world. Telling other people they're living in a fantasy world, b!tch you're living in a nightmare and are apparently completely fine with that !!

The founding fathers said the same thing about abolishing slavery, btw.

ICE is 23 years old. We have existed for hundreds of years without it. It is in no way necessary.

In a post-9/11 world it absolutely was IMO.

I watched the whole thing and I was amazed by the way he dodged that question so many times and then he started shouting at Ali. Even if he doesn't support abolishing ICE, at least stand by your opinion and say why you're not for abolishing it, but the way he fumbled is laughable. He ain't no leader!

Both Jeffries and Schumer are unpopular within the Democratic base. They need to go.

ICE wouldn't have stopped a 9/11 from happening lmao

"Abolish ICE" is just a bad look politically. Republicans use that to paint Democrats as wanting lawlessness and ****. And that fear mongering and propaganda has been proven to work

You're wrong on both fronts. Abolishing ICE is literally the popular position [ref]; it's even growing in favorability with Republican voters [ref]. Further, fearmongering and propaganda have never been "proven" to work. The issue is Democrats continue surrender to it and spend more time trying to disprove the fearmongering than they do anything else. They'd rather reactively flex about how much they deport immigrants rather than fight for raising the minimum wage, universal healthcare, and taxing the right (all of which are strong majority positions).

Literally every single one of the 19 highjackers who took part in 9/11 was in the US legally, most on student and tourist visas.

Multiple of them were also already known figures to organizations like the CIA upon their entry into the US.
