Is Bad Bunny over-rated?

Featured Replies

Edit: Poll failure. Can a mod/admin add a poll? (Is Bad Bunny over-rated? Options 1) Yes 2) No). Thank you in advance.

Online culture largely suports him.

Majority of white America seem eager to scrutinize him the moment he expands beyond Latin markets.

There are constant narratives about industry politics, ratings, and who is "allowed" to dominate certain stages.

Yet the world clearly loves him. He is a global phenomenon - FACT.

So the question is simple: is his talent and vision truly generational, on a Michael Jackson level, or is the hype outpacing the artistry?

ATRL decides. 🍿

  • Before his last album you could have said perhaps yes, but with DtMF he proved that he's a force to be reckoned with. It's an excellent artistic and political statement

not you asking the mods to help you do the formatting/editing for free

  • No, he went from generic trap-rapper to what we have today. His artistic vision and evolution are crazy, with each album release he peaks again. Dtmf may be his global breakthrough but Un Verano Sin T

yes!

but i'm glad maga are fuming, so i'll give him his 7s

He's fairly related and is currently experiencing the peak of his career like every other popular artist has. Why would that be considered overrated? Especially when his music isn't in english

He's a visionary. The whole point of great art is that you should have something to say. And he does that beautifully.

He's great but I find a lot of his songs sound the same. Can he do a ballad next ? fan2

He has balladsthing

No. He's a crossover who actually went deeper into his point of view instead of watering it down for the masses.

No, he went from generic trap-rapper to what we have today. His artistic vision and evolution are crazy, with each album release he peaks again. Dtmf may be his global breakthrough but Un Verano Sin Ti had the whole latin america on a chokehold, it was impossible to go a day without listening to one of those songs somewhere.

He also does not play it safe, people will always crave his trap/reggaeton early stuff and he may throw a bone but always committed to his current vision. Also Yo Perreo Sola video is a literal challenge to his main listeners which back then was mostly straight traditional young adult men.

We should also give Tainy some flowers, both of them together they just don't know how to miss.

PS im so glad they took the confused reaction away, right?

This is an impossible question that just reveals someone's subjective feelings, never actually states if they are overrated. Unless we can all agree on a rubric where skills are rated and assigned weight relative the success/scope an artist has, you can't really answer it.

And whenever you ask if someone is overrated, you first have to look at WHAT they are rated FOR first and then and only then can you see if they are overrated.

If Bad Bunny isn't giving praise, success and adoration for his vocals, to then say "he can't even sing" should not compute in whether he's overrated, unless you think singing is the only thing a musician should have in order to be well-rated.

Eh.... he honestly solidified that he wasn't going anywhere with Un Verano Sin Ti

You can be successful but still overrated. I think that's what the op was asking, although I'm not sure cause it's a little messy

No way. Please don't talk about his last album like that when his 3rd and 4th and even 5th albums are more enjoyable to the ears. Sure maybe he was trying to make a statement but the production is so boring.
