How do you "consume" music?

Featured Replies

Do you buy physical copies? Streaming only?

When you listen to music, how do you listen to it? Singles mostly? Random tracks? Mostly playlists? Full albums?

In my case, I realized that lately on streaming I mostly listen to albums in full, and other songs here and there, but I play the whole thing from start to finish deadbanana

I also buy CDs and vinyls, and play them ocassionally.

    I don't consume. I absorb it. I experience it. I live it.

I might be alone here but I still use iTunes. I've put far too much effort into curating my library to give it up for streaming. Spotify WISHES

Streaming only. I play albums in full once or twice and I take the songs I like to playlists. Once in a while I revisit other songs to see if they grew on me. I give the full album another listen a couple of weeks later

Streaming. I don't use playlists tbh. I always just search for whatever song I wanna listen to.

Lately been getting into vinyl as well. Bought some LP's I really love and sometimes I listen that way if I want to listen to an album in full.

And probably twice a year I go to a concert.

95% streaming. i will buy the vinyl if i like that album a lot (i window shop on my lastfm page like it's amazon). i go to shows when my faves come to where i'm at. i'm an album person through and through and this year i am trying not to let the algorithm influence my listening behaviour

Streaming. Once in a great while I'll buy a vinyl to support but for the most part I spend a lot of time making my own playlists. I used to spend hours making them because I spend so much time at work listening to music but lately I just make a playlist that says "January 2026" or something and keep adding to that for the month. I have hundreds of playlists I've made rip

Radio and streaming. I still like to put the radio on my phone while I am cleaning out or cooking, for instance.

Regarding streaming, I highly rely on a specific playlist (I call it Power Rotation) which is basically current singles that I really like. Then, from time to time I go revisit certain albums that I think of, or because I found a song I really liked using the shuffle option with my Spotify library.

I don't buy music, I'd love to collect, but at the same time I know in my case CDs/vinyls are just going to end up full of dust ultimately.

Streaming. Mostly isolated songs, full album when it comes out and I have time to listen to it entirely

I buy vinyls rarely but it happens when I really like the album and the aesthetic

I also use a lot of Youtube for live audio or unreleased stuff

Full album.

The playlists per mood.

Streaming.

Streaming and vinyl. I mostly like to listen to albums in full, but playlists are nice if I'm in the mood.

I stream albums and add favorite songs to my "everything i like"- type playlist.

I also buy vinyl copies and CDs if I really enjoy an album. And I go to concerts when I like an artist.

I only buy physical stray kids album since they make covers of your favourite members with photos cards and posters in what not so of course im always buying every hyunjin one possible

But for everything else it's streaming always. Even with SKZ I'm streaming. Like don't think cds have ever been used they just sit on shelves and look pretty

streaming only, haven't bought physicals in a looong time

i don't use or make playlists

i either

1) hit play on an album and add a track from a different singer or album between the songs

or

2) just random shuffle and skip the songs i don't want to listen

Digital on artists stores and iTunes

Physicals less often because I haven't got a space for them

Stopped using streaming

I like to own my music

Streaming, only playlists I'll somewhat use are discover weekly and release radar. They're usually good for finding niche artists.

On streaming, it's mostly my own playlists. I don't really use Spotify-curated lists.

On vinyl I listen to the album front to back.

Radio, don't know her. CD, don't know her either.

On streaming exclusively.

I only buy Gaga's album on iTunes to support.

I used to collect vinyls up till 2023 as a way to support, but I don't have a player and it's collecting dust in my room. I haven't even gotten MAYHEM/TTPD vinyls yet.

I prefer vinyl, CD, ect. The sound quality is so much better. Having said that, I do stream occasionally though.

Spotify WISHES

i listen to stuff on streaming mainly to look for new things or listen to other people's playlists, if i listen to it a few times and you can get it on a cd then i'll do that and listen to that sometimes as well.

i have an mp3 player which i rip stuff to and that's usually what i listen to if i'm walking around, will play mp3s off the laptop a lot as well. i get vinyl sometimes if they're cheap enough and i can afford it and/or have gone long enough without buying one to forget what a hassle/waste of money/poor quality they are. i try and play a record every day but often fail.

i feel like i've written this response out innumerable times in similar threads but here i am doing it again which just goes to show the strength of the concept, it's like listening to pink friday 2 cos pink friday was so good

90% streaming, 8% radio, 2% vinyl. I usually buy albums I like, and even if I'm not crazy, I buy albums from smaller artists to support them, ie.
