Anybody else grew up in a small town with crazy people ? I mean stuff like:

-People constantly getting into fights at school and rampant bullying. So many kids flunked at attending school.

-A lot of homes with difficulties like alcoholism, substance abuse, sa, negligence and in general a lot of inattentive parents

-So much grooming, especially of girls by older guys. Some of my friends had 19 year old boyfriends when they were 13 and the parents didn't say anything There was a 14-year old girl who lived in a house with 4 grown men she wasn't related to. A lot of kids had a very inappropriate interest in sex for their ge

-Most of our parents were quite ignorant of mental issues and disabilities, so most people don't like to talk about their emotions and just tough it out.

And many more things, idk. I know these issues aren't exclusive to small towns, but there just seemed to be a larger concentration of them. There was obviously also a lot of very normal people.

I used to live is a small suburb Mississauga, but than I moved to Toronto. Does that count??

I grew up in a small town, but we didn't have any of that **** going on. 💀

Rural USA sounds like a nightmare from the OP's description in wealthy parts of Europe small towns are better than cities

Yes, thank you A high living standard doesn't mean that everyone is middle class and up, it means that you're way less likely to be trapped by poverty and have way higher social mobility, along with access to public services. Very few people in my town were poor, but addiction and mental health doesn't care about your wallet. These places exist in all around the world, no country is immune to social issues.

I grew up in a city and we had all of that. I'd rather would have been born in rural Canada.

Is that stuff not happening in big cities?? lol

I grew up in a small town I think (5k) and as far as I know none of that crazy stuff was happening on an abnormal scale

Coming from a small town in Canada is not for the weak-minded, like everything was a bit insane but almost in a fun way. Stuff OP mentioned kinda happens everywhere but maybe it's just amplified in small towns. Ugh I'll never forget writing my first witness statement at the police station when I was like 12 bc ex-friend's dad pulled up to some party threatening to beat some kid up jnknjsdnksdknss but then that friend got mad at me because I almost accidentally sent her dad to jail bc they chose my statement to present in court lol whoops. hope she's doing okay tbh #corememories

Yes but we have the only secondary school in a massive area so the 'community' is kinda bigger I guess.

Some towns are so weird and my one definitely has deeprooted cliques. It's almost cultlike, so many people in my town are related and I didnt even realise that going through school until much older, and they are quite insular and to themselves. Not really a big issue tho but I always felt 'on the outside' of things. I just have no idea where all these chavs are being formulated (UK) theyre becoming quite rampant.

Kinda crazy to hear OPs experience in Denmark, I have a very rose-coloured lens of the country being half Danish, we have a second home there but it's mostly just retired people and a massive trucker park (The trucker Grindr game is hot to me tho)
