A lot of Gaga hate discourse around Die With a Smile boils down to one claim: it wasn't Gaga's win, it was Bruno Mars doing the heavy lifting. The idea being that Bruno's presence alone guarantees radio, streams, and a hit.

But if we take that argument at face value, it opens the door to another question: could Bruno do the same for Katy Perry? Katy hasn't lacked visibility, but translating that into an actual hit has been the problem. Would a Bruno feature be enough to cut through skepticism, unlock streaming success and radio support and remind the GP she can still compete? Or would it expose that a "Bruno boost" only works when everything else is already aligned?

If Bruno really is the common denominator behind hits, Katy seems like the ultimate test case.

If it's a good song, I don't see why not, streaming era has proven that anyone can get a hit as long as the song connects with the people.

There's a bigger likelihood that her expired career (chart wise) tarnishes his, and he's never able to get a hit again, than him giving her a #1 by collabing

I joke about die with a smile sometimes but Katy couldn't sing anything like this, her voice is so annoying. Maybe a song like APT but she would make it so cringe and people won't touch like it's out of Chernobyl

It was a little too generic for Adam Lambert at the time. Now slightly-creepy Maroon 5 record "Animals"? Adam Lambert would eviscerate that record.

I think Gaga does add something to DWAS success but it's such a good song it'd smash with any female vocal.
