when the movie is a panned mess a la JFAD and ATRL calls it Lady Gaga's The Devil Wears Prada 2 and multiple threads like "Gaga tanked another sequel. Why?" being made on an hourly basis

House of Gucci isn't appreciated enough by the base for my liking. We deadass treat it like a panned film when it actually performed decent critically and commercially and was the one instance of her acting career that didn't involve a remake or sequel.

If she ever takes a role again, I hope it's for something new and original. The mid hype for DWP2 is lowkey a signal that the public is weary of remakes and sequels.

House of Gucci is fun. It's only let down is that it is questionable editing choices /has pacing issues.

We won't notice because we'll be battling for our lives in the "Spotify Day 2: Shape Of A Woman - 849k, OUT of US & Global charts, #198 in Brazil" thread

Agreed. Ridley Scott was serving dementia/Ryan Murphy with the pacing. The accent fiasco among the actors was a mess too

House to Gucci felt non-personal. What do you mean you make a biographical movie about one of the biggest fashion brands and fashion as a concept or industry is barely touched upon. Like the whole part about the truck company and the conflicts with the family just being set dressing so Patrizia could wink at the camera and say "and I'm only here for the fame and the money!" and it just went on and on.

The only time the movie remembers it is about a fashion brand family is when they have the conversation about the fake purses and Tom Ford later on.

Why is House of Gucci even considered a flop. I feel like it did relatively well for a drama film and especially during a pandemic. It only did 50M less than Wuthering Heights with a slightly smaller budget. And like Marty Supreme had same budget and grossed less, all these Oscar type movies do?

Despite the film itself being a mess, it's by far her best acting role. Very larger than life and Old Hollywood coded, the fact that so much of her material was cut (ie Patrizia finding out she has a tumor) kills me. Felt much more attuned to her talents than ASIB

Also important to note that it came out just as things were reopening after the pandemic. It was the highest grossing adult drama to come out in a while at that point. I would never call it a smash, but it wasn't close to being a flop either

I've even seen some liddos try to push that it was a straight up bomb. A moderate success for sure supaspaz

Are y'all pushing the narrative that HOG was a flop? Hunnay, it wasn't a flop. That Rated R crime drama picture got over $150 million in box office and none of the same genre pictures in the last 5 years starting 2022 could do that? It got rivalled to Bruno animated film. So tell me, ATRL liddos, a crime drama film vs. a disney family orientated film during the COVID pandemic? What do you think American people or the whole world would like to watch more? Yes, Bruno won. But I remember it vividly there was a week HOG topped the box office 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

And literally every publications and critics praised Gaga to heaven, they said she was the reason making people to go out in the cinema to watch her despite of the streaming era aka Netflix rn.

OGHs hid behind Kristen Stewart's back and other nominees but ijbol Gaga secured all the big 4 noms Critics' Choice, SAG, GG, and BAFTA. We lost Oscar's but that's okay 🥴

Also, the fact that Gaga could hit all precursor nominations for a film with mixed reception that wasn't a priority for its distributor is definitely a sign of industry respect. I got so tired of the narrative that she's a flop or embarrassment in Hollywood because she barely missed out on the Oscar, strange how people can accept that other actresses just peaked at the right time for someone like Margot Robbie who was snubbed in Best Picture nominee Barbie, but there has to be some greater narrative at play for Gaga

I'm still pissed they said her campaigning was aggressive 🥴

Wtf

She was a bit extra in some interviews, but the issue with Gaga is that everything she does is under such a microscope that sampling bias is at play. Most actors in Hollywood have practiced lines for press junkets and pretentious stories about how deep they went into character, it's just that nothing they say gets dissected or disseminated like Gaga's campaign events do.

fellow monstrosities,

where can one find a train ticket to the lady and the legend, can a nice soul helP Me?

I wanna EDUCATE my family this weekend.

Seems like there's a flood alert and people are advised to not leave their houses due to the severe thunderstorm going on in a few hours so yeah I hope you are getting used to the trips to Miami because it looks like you will need to do another one

Actually so nervous for the concert tonight rip It's raining but not THAT bad at the moment. There are still flood watches and stuff but it looks like it'll clear up in the next few hours.
