I understand that soundtracks aren't "Gaga projects" the way a single from one of her albums might be, so she may feel the urge to water herself down a bit and make something more generic/GP-friendly. Hold My Hand, The Dead Dance, and Shape of a Woman all seem to be crafted to be as palatable and inoffensive as possible. But if I'm a movie producer hiring Lady Gaga to make a song for my movie, it's because I want her to make it Gaga, not make something that any pop star could make.

After all, Bloody Mary went viral with kids even with references to religion, stoning, crucifixion, operatic vocals and Gregorian chants being in the song. And yet to recreate that magic, she made a song shamelessly and forcefully engineered to be a TikTok dance that sounds like it could play on Disney channel.

Then again it's not like she's never seen success when she plays it safe. DWAS is her biggest hit and it's far from experimental, and fans insist HBDYWM is a Mayhem highlight even though it sounds like something Gracie Abrams or Taylor Swift would sing. So. Maybe at this point she thinks that's the way to go. It's not like Disease did numbers. Who knows.

The reality is Gaga's songs for media this era are really just Mayhem Deluxe and rather than simply rereleasing the album or collaborating with Oreo, she smartly scored deals with top-line entertainment properties. I am grateful for the expansiveness of this era and Michael's her business prowess.

I just don't get it. Considering that the song is indeed just a MAYHEM leftover, why releasing something just ok when they could create and promote an amazing track instead? The song will be plastered all over the world, millions of people will watch the movie. That's huge promo + spotlight that deserves a surefire #1 hit.

when Gaga films a new starring role in an actually good movie this year and it comes out next year right before promo for the critically-acclaimed and commercially successful LG8 and she ends up ruling the entertainment world once again, giving her momentum for a sold-out stadium tour across the world

She obviously gave them options (not just one) for which song to use in the movie. Maybe she did have that amazing track you all imagined, but the distributor or the movie execs just didn't like it.Then they chose SOAW instead, thinking it would be more fitting for the movie soundtrack

Shape or a Woman kinda sucking means nothing it won't affect her in anyway but it also doesn't help her in anyway so it's like what's the point, yeah it's a cameo in a film but like why not just perform abra or something then. But yeah she needs to stop putting these soundtrack songs together last minute because they're so lazy and weak.

I feel this way about most music from mainstream artists for film.

I just think it would be cool to have something original made exclusively for the movie instead of an old track. If that's the case. But again, we are just guessing. She probably wouldn't have time to craft something new since she is always so busy. Anyways, I'm super excited to listen to it in full!

In the end, no one knows **** about the song yet other than those 20 leaked seconds. Full thing may be incredible + I love that "Sunroof" leak. Nnnn.

People thumbing down any comment that says they don't like SoaW, stop being weak *******. The reality is the people that aired their frustrations with Gaga for 5 years about her capitalism or being lazy are likely what fuelled the fire for Gaga's return with MAYHEM so how bout a thank you instead. If you want to gas up a mediocre song you'll keep getting mediocre songs and it'll be what you deserve

If you've only "heard" the snippet and not really feeling it, I highly suggest watching the leaked clip if you're okay with spoilers. It hits different and more powerfully when used as a runway song. That is if you can still find it since most have been taken down.

I didn't love the clip I heard but I ain't judging until I hear it in full HQ. I've disliked a lot of stuff from her from leaks that I ended up loving in full.

Maybe we'll get LG8 first
