It's about being a good neighbor/friend/colleague and encouraging collectivism in a very western, individualistic culture. Fantastic message for the current situation.

Boy i really wish she would post about ICE on her instagram stories instead of this though, so we could definitely know where she stands. That would be much more meaningful than this beautiful support of using her art to tell an important message 🙄🙄

Mr. Rodgers is an iconic model figure in American history. If I'm not mistaken, his whole shtick was about being an upstanding good citizen

She didn't speak out about EVERYTHING in the early days. She didn't talk about the financial crash. She didn't talk about Michael Brown or Mizzou. She didn't acknowledge Eric garner's murder even though she cancelled chromatica

She also took YEARS to disavow R Kelly. Still hasn't for Terry Richardson

And yet… so many of us are still here. I'm so sad for you that you want perfection from a woman is anything but

AND THATS WHY WE LOVE HER. after aaaaaaaaalllllllll these years EVEN WITH A MAGA father, she's done the right thing. It's shaky right now with her tech / corporate shows, but a statement against ICE, where SHE PUTS HER FANS AT RISK, is stupid and parasocial brain rot

She has spoken up about immigrations rights and even wrote an entire song about it. No one expects her to be the mothet theresa of pop but that's the same reason people wanted her to speak up about the spike in trans people hurt and killed and she did. We know what her stances are on these issues, but I'm also not going to berate someone for wanting her to speak up about what's happening in the U.S. rigt now. I wouldn't want her to do a tribute performance or anything like that, but there's nothing harmful about her making or posting a statement/speech.

You claim that she'd be putting her fans lives in danger...do you think they're safe right now and only in danger when they enter an arena? You can't live in fear, just alert. If she does make a speech on Sunday, are you still going to tell those fans to call Tickermaster and request refunds from their MAYHEM Ball tickets simply because she's putting their lives on danger? Like damn. People are allowed to go out and have fun. It's one thing to want to wait and see what she says about the ICE protests but its clear you have strong feelings about fans (who may be affected) wanting her to speak out, and you're blaming it on "parasocial relationships with celebrities" when in reality, you're the one exhibiting those traits by basically telling fans like @CoolNebraskaGuy to suck it up and stop whining.

If you don't care about what's happening with ICE, then that's fine but there's no need to berate people for wanting her to speak up. You're acting like people are threatening to rip up their stan cards. I've called and left voicemails about my disgust towards ICE and many people are doing the same, so acting like people are only asking celebrities to lift their fingers is completely disingenuous. This also isn't an issue exclusive to Gaga. Every pop star is getting pressured to speak up. Just go on X and you'll see members of the beyhive asking Beyonce to speak up (who, again, has spoken up on human rights issues).

At the end of the day we all know the minute she does a speech or posts a statement, you'll be singing high praise.

What a random thing lol, will there be a studio release? She sounds great

Mr Rogers is a legendary cultural staple in the US. Having that Super Bowl ad slot will be a cute promo for her brand in general.

the host of a long-running children's show in the US.

He was a genuine good human being.

Yeah I actually like the fact that she's willing to be more visible even in her "off" time than just go completely off the radar like she used to in between eras. SB is a huge audience. Maybe she wants to stay in the public eye until after LG8 release this year.

Oh it's gonna be in a Superbowl ad?

Inb4 Won't You Be My Neighbor (Cover) went top 10 but Abracadabra couldn't. Why?

That's her pianist Alex and vocal producer Benjamin Rice with her. Hmm. Maybe this is from one of the LG8 recording session days and she took a break to get all dolled up and film this quick little ad.

Yup. Even though it's in an ad, it's a reminder of how she can be clever to get her message out there without diving head into politics every time. Everyone knows where Mr Rogers would've stood on things and the general morals he bestowed.

This is cute for 140M+ people to see and have their 80th "Lady Gaga can sing?!" moment, but that's about IT.

Press release

Performed by Lady Gaga, the reimagined anthem finds a voice uniquely suited to its message. A 14-time Grammy Award winner, Lady Gaga has built her career celebrating individuality, championing kindness and creating space for people to feel seen, all values that closely mirror those exemplified by Fred Rogers. Her openness and emotional authenticity bring new life to a song that has always been about care, connection and belonging.

The campaign is anchored by a 60-second commercial debuting during the Super Bowl. Told through a poignant human story and elevated by music as a shared emotional language, the work invites reflection on how people show up for one another where they live and the transformative power of being a caring neighbor.

"Mr. Rogers was for generations a heartfelt presence for children and families all over the world," said Lady Gaga. "I was honored to be asked by Rocket and Fred Rogers Productions to reimagine his beloved classic "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" for Rocket's Super Bowl spot. I hope you sincerely enjoy this as much as I did, recreating it with fellow musicians and friends Alex Smith and Benjamin Rice."
