I'm neutral and cautiously optimistic about this new venture of hers. I think some of the ethical concerns are legitimate and deserve scrutiny, particularly given the gravity of the ongoing conflict, but I also think some of the rhetoric surrounding these associations has gone considerably further and emotionally fuelled bias against her.

Outerbio can and should be held accountable for the investors it chooses to accept capital from. What it cannot reasonably be held responsible for is every past, present, or future investment made independently by those venture funds across their broader portfolios. Accepting capital establishes a financial relationship with an investor; it does not amount to endorsing every company that investor has ever funded.

There is also a practical reality to startup financing. Biotechnology is extraordinarily capital-intensive: research and development, specialized personnel, laboratories, facilities, regulatory work and ongoing operations can consume substantial amounts of capital long before a company becomes profitable. Even someone as wealthy as Gaga cannot necessarily substitute personal wealth for the scale of institutional financing a serious biotech venture may eventually require.

That doesn't mean founders have no choice over their investors; they do, and those choices can legitimately be scrutinized. But fundraising is not simply a matter of selecting whichever investor has the most agreeable portfolio or politics. Founders are choosing among institutions actually willing to invest, at the necessary scale and under acceptable terms.

She's been in the industry for a while and knows how her decisions impact, set an example for, and affect her brand. I was giving her the benefit of the doubt with this AI biotech skin thing but the connection to Israel (kinda terrifying how many organizations keep coming up that are all connected to it, though) and the freaking wedding are not something to sugarcoat and I can't shake off the feeling that she's enabling and perpetuating everything she's been condemning for so long.

I'm dumbfounded. This decade, or ever since she's been with Michael she's been trying to merge philanthropy with business: his job and background, the ad ventures during Chromatica, their tech gatherings at her house, and now the biotech skin are no unrelated coincidences. One would think she took the hint after Nurtec-gate but she's not only doubling down on this road but it looks like she's just getting started and as a fan for so long, watching this puts one's morals under the spotlight and wonders where she's headed.

Not interested in getting into it but all I'll say is that when you reach the level of fame and wealth of Gar and Michael, I honestly don't think there's a way of conducting business in an ethical fashion. Idk y'all, there's really no way to ethically consume anything these days. Obviously the situation isn't ideal, but we're all part of this crappy system. And unfortunately, Gar is part of a group of people who can make tons of money while ignoring ethical concerns. I know we expect more of her, but she's not a saint. She's a pop star.

Honestly, that sounds like a rumor from the same sketchy source that said Gaga was at Jeff Bezos's event but imagine rejecting $20M to perform at Private Gay Wedding because her haters on pop forum say it's "uNeThiCaL"
