Anyone else think the B'Day thing may potentially be a bait and switch?

We still don't know the setup: is she about to go all out with vinyls, re-recordings, bonus tracks, merch galore, etc, or is this more of a digital drop?

I find the fact she's being militant with not posting on IG quite interesting. We all know she generally treats her grid like premium real estate. Her holding back on posting feels both deliberate and as a precursor to something...big.

It could, of course, could be whatever she's readying for the B'Day reissue; but wouldn't it be the ultimate gag if we were all led to brace for that only for it to be nothing more than a quick lil digital drop for the fans and it's actually all systems go for Act III?

After all, there few ways she can actually surprise us these days. This would be...that.

Realistically, the overall venture probably is a strategic space-filler for what was supposed to be the Act III era and a palate cleanser from CC. At best, given the uptempo edge of B'Day, it can also function as a sound-scene-setter for the Rock-Funk that will be Act III.

Also...

Am I the only one slightly annoyed at the B'Day thing?

I'll inevitably enjoy whatever she has up her sleeve, but if she really throws her relative all behind it, all it means is that we are much further way from Act III than we think.

Because, economically speaking, she is not selling a B'Day vinyl, merch etc in September and expecting the Hive and the masses to flood buy Act III in October. Hell, even December. Anything can happen and I trust they are being guided by data way more reliable than conjecture. Still, if going by logic + economics + fact, she just doesn't have that rabidrush-buy-everything-she-drops fanbase like a TS or Ariana, Act III giving next year if this B'Day thing is indeed...a thing.

The only possible upside being that I still feel the tour is next year. As such, we may be in for a condensed/maximum impact Formation-Lemonade-album/visual-tour rollout. Which IMO feels better than her: 'drop, set, forget, then tour a year later' approach to Acts I and II.

We'll see.

I don't see it being a bait-and-switch. She's secretive, yes, but I feel as if it's unwise to deliberately trick your audience. (And before anyone starts, teasing the visuals clearly wasn't intended to be a fake-out.)

As for your spoilered portion, the Hive that goes all out and buys things would buy B'Day merch in September and then every morsel of Act III material in November. I don't see the GP rushing to buy B'Day merch, anyway. They'll eat up whatever music she ties to it, especially if it's nostalgic, but it's not going to be a huge distraction. For them, they consume the music, and then they move on.

you still think she actually got any of this planned out ? cause spoiler : she doesn't. auntie has no damn clue what to do with any of this, she's as clueless as we are atp suburban

that's why i find all these nonsense theories hive comes up with so laughably stupid. coming up with random numbers, patterns and moon eclipses to somehow pretend she's teasing some big masterplan years in advance when she doesn't even know what to do with a new album a week after it gets released suburban

she's clueless, her team is clueless (on top of USELESS) and none of them know **** about anything suburban

I hear you, and it's a fair way of looking at things.

Bey is an interesting one in that her sales pie is pretty much straight down the line. The Hive shows up for her consistently enough to net her decent baseline sales (even her worst numbers, e.g. with The Gift, still place her in the upper regions of the charts). But she equally needs the GP to truly deliver the numbers expected of her.

Like you said, I can see the B'Day re-issue being more fan service than anything else. And Act III will have all the bells and whistles.

I still feel, though, there ought to be a decent amount of distance between both when it comes to using her social capital. To the average, passing casual fan, I'm not sure they create a crazy amount of demarkation between their "OMG, Beyonce just announced something" trail of thought. So, if she goes all out for B"Day, to ensure Act III garners the response (and numbers she wants), I do think it wise to create a bit of distance. Or, as you intimated, if they can find a savvy way to have her push B'Day reissue mainly via external channels (e.g. Parkwood, Beyonce shop etc) and let her main feed be for Act III etc, feels like a fair balance.

I'm sure she'll submit it. I'm just not sure why they haven't sent it to urban radio yet, though, it could definitely be an urban radio hit

While I love Victoria Monet's new video, it annoys me a lil when it comes to Bey because THIS is exactly the type of aesthetic, choreo, and overall creative elevation that I want/am anticipating from Bey with these elusive trilogy visuals.

I've often struggled to put it into words, but with Bey taking as long as she has been with the visuals, they NEED to slay and not just in the "great Beyonce video" way like some of her recent ish (Water, My Power, etc); there's a freshness needed to a) be worth the wait and b) authentically feel like new terrain in the world that is Bey's visual output.

I sense Bey gets this too. Hence her taking on Nadia Lee Cohen, whose aesthetic is the polar opposite of anything she's previously done. Though it looks like the end result may not have been what she wanted.

She has her tried-and-true directors and has been experimenting of late with culturally aligned creatives. But interestingly, she has largely avoided some of the obvious titans of the field like Dave Meyers (who is still active and did Victoria's video) and Joseph Kahn (though his recent shade has ruled him out). Sometimes I wish she'd embrace the enormity of her star and go all out with an OTT Pop star video. Let's just hope the visuals/film or whatever are worth it.

she should hire denis villeneuve for the visual reshoots and have him premiere part of it before every screening of Dune 3 giraffe

So some of you really think she's doing the B'Day thing as a cover for a brand new album drop and when we get the physicals delivered to our houses it'll be Act III.

Lol. No, not that at all.

With Morning Dew, her team announced the B'Day reissue, but we have no actual tea? Is it an all-out venture? Is it a few bonus tracks added to streaming as a "gift to the fans."

If it's the latter, there is a world where Act III could easily arrive this year even within the same-ish window.

Seeing the tour visuals for RWT and CCWT, I don't think we have to worry about Beyoncé and her ability to deliver sickening visuals, and I shall leave it at that.

She is also sitting on an unreleased Michel Gondry video from 2017... so I have learned to not expect anything visually and be surprised when I see it.
