been listening to selftitled lately

like, it still bugs me that the sounds its so NOT beyonce (except a few songs), i dont know how to explain it, but its not typical yonce, very experimental, compared to idk lemonade or the next projects where you can tell those are her songs

i dont say its bad, i really love it, but after all these years i still found the whole album "weird", specially when her previous album was 4 (that still has that feeling but not in a large scale)

or maybe im just crazy (in love )

But a main point of the album was to signal a new Beyoncé, so her having Déja Vu and Single Ladies-style tracks on it wouldn't make sense at all. That's why, I think, more conventional songs like Grown Woman (an evolution of End of Time) and Standing on the Sun (a child of Baby Boy) went unreleased.

Perhaps you think the songs on BEYONCÉ are less "Beyoncé" compared to Lemonade and the following albums where she switched her main genre completely because you remember and feel your original reactions to it, but since BEYONCÉ did the work of introducing this new version of herself where she can glide onto any sound and still maintain her inherent Beyoncé-isms, you accept the new styles more easily.

This was such a MOMENT.

Performing an unreleased track we all assumed was going to be a single, get a full video, launch the era, precede the album... the confusion of this time was kind of hilarious tbh. I get people were mad but I think it's pretty established that I don't let my expectations of what she should do, or my assumptions of what she will do affect my enjoyment of her. This was thrilling.
