Do they really work? I see some people say they don't do anything for them plus the side effects scare me and the idea of depending on meds scare me too

However, I was not able to manage/stop my anxious thoughts until I got on SSRIs. Now when it creeps up I can control it.

I know it's not healthy but eating a lot of good food helps me. But be careful and don't do too much otherwise you'll gain weight (duh)

Also walking outside a lot

Also if the job is so toxic and stresses you out that much, maybe it's not worth it after all. Speaking from my experience because I was in your shoes and I wish I'd left sooner

Yes. Side effects last for maybe first 5 days only for me. That scared me too, it's not as bad at it seems tbh.

Try these, I use them to help me sleep better. I found them searching for natural medicine to help with sleep.

I've also taken them before work when I feel really ****, and they do make me kinda calm or less bothered.

What country do you live in where they still prescribe those?

I've just begun breathwork, and wow, I didn't realise it would benefit me as much as it has, and just how much pent-up emotion I have and am very slowly beginning to work my way through.

mediation and breathe control

i close my eyes inhale and exhale slowly 5 times… works every time

When I remember it, I try to do boxed breathing. You take a deep breath for 5 seconds, hold it for 5 and exhale for 5. But only when I remember.

Other times I just ruminate on the stress

I listen to podcasts, search for new music, play my old childhood DS games, read comics, fix myself my favorite hot drinks, watch shows or movies with family, zero in on a hyper-fixation (like random historical topics I'm interested in), escape into my inner world/daydream etc.

I hope you'll find something that works for you, OP

rude!!

OT: Talk with my man

- Talk to my boyfriend about it (helps me often but sometimes he is just as stressed from work as I am and then we just create a pre-dinner catastrophist spiral LMAO)

- Indulging in revenge fantasies (nothing illegal/harmful towards other people's personal safety, just stuff like "if I quit tomorrow they're gonna be so sorry and it'd take them foreverrrrr to find a replacement and train them" etc etc, stuff like that, really scratches an itch sometimes for me haha)

- very rarely breathing exercises (they do work to a degree but sometimes they also make me angry because I HATE the concept of having to optimise/regulate myself just so I can function in a broken ******* system haha)

- sex and masturbation

- my comfort TV shows like Desperate Housewives, AbFab, Downton Abbey, The Crown, escapism stuff like that

- Albums: Ray of Light, Addison, The Velvet Rope, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, In the Zone, The Tortured Poets Department, EverLore (even tho the last three also make me cry a LOT so there you go with another emotion taking over lol)

It's a new job so it's going to take time to adjust, as all situations in life. Maybe things will get better in time? But if it is untolerable working environment, you should reconsider if it's the right place to be but yeah, life is what it is sometimes.... If there is anyone to talk to at workplace, could be an option but yeah, depends on workplace and country how these things are... Maybe professional help too if possible, they could help with finding ways to relief stress and find coping mechanisms, also prescribe meds. There are non-ssri options too for sleeping and anxiety, if you cannot tolerate the antidepressant side effects (I use a betablocker for anxiety and a very low dose of tricyclic antidepressant for sleep but it's obviusly so individual)

I'm low on coping mechanisms as well, but I'd try to keep the work things strickly to the workplace. Not take the work/school/anything else to your home and free time, so you can relax and feel at safe. Maybe try journaling, venting out to someone can help. Basically try to find something that brings you joy and make you forget reality for a bit... I'd try to get into a series, play a video game, read if I could concentrate, listen to the music that helps you etc. People have mentioned meditation, and breathing exercises, also could be good to check out vagus nerve simulation (I'm yet to find out if that helps, I should check that out more as well). I hope things will get easier for you, life is so tough sometimes but we'll hold on...

Listen to love untold or so good or watch some SKZ code or talk to my bias on bimo..

It helps a lot tbh especially since my stressful feww months
