Let's be honest about TLOSG

Featured Replies

It is not bad, it is fine. After listening to it at least twice, it is better than Midnights, and TPD. The production is pretty good and some lyrics are great. However, some of the lyrics are very cringe but, the way these girls are acting is like she produced the worst album of 2025.

Hell, I don't like Taylor, I only like a few Swifties and to be honest, went into this album ready to hate it. The album is good generic pop, nothing surprising,  just what you expect from a pop Taylor Swift album. If you are gonna home into cringe lyrics and then, argues that it is worse than album like Am I the Drama? sis stop.

Look, hate the person but be objective with the music.

And that is the Phaunzie opinion for today.

The lyrics, which is the nucleus of her entire brand, sound like a parody of someone who doesn't like Taylor trying to write a generic Taylor Swift song.

the album is seriously overhated

same thing with man's best friend, I think people really just wanted to hate something just cause they wanted to

if they didnt like it, thats fine but to ACTIVELY make it your mission to **** on it and forbid others from enjoying it is a problem - especially if its an artist that you've never liked in the first place

you lost me at better than midnights

no song on showgirl comes close:

the way ari is female, caucasian, hispanic, asian and black at the same time :deadbanana2:

The album is ok, OTH love to circle jerk hate anything Taylor related. Overall I prefer TTPD over TLOAS and as a stan I rank the album in the bottom 5 of her discog, but there are some great songs on the album

Even Victoria Justice's new single is better than the whole album

i listened to the LQ leak, and when it finally came time to listen in HQ, I could only get 3 songs in.

and I am returning the vinyl that I preordered.

I rebuke it!

Feeling Clean.mp3 tbh

Better than ttpd worse than midnights because it doesn't have a lot of standouts. But it's more cohesive than something like lover idk.

People are going to exagerate because it's ok to hate her now. With ttpd, which was a lot worse, people gave her the benefit of the doubt, now it's just confirmed the creativity has drained.

If the rest of Taylor's discography didn't exist the album would be fine, she's just out of ideas, which is something far more talented artists have gone through as well. It's time to bring in co-writers or retire from music until she finds real inspiration.

It sucks she should have collabed with daddy Wallen like Tate

No songs are better than Would've Could've Should've, Maroon, You're on your own kid, Bigger than the whole sky...
And no songs are better than Guilty As Sin, So Long London, So High School, The Albatross...

So no, this take is invalid, the album is terrible and that's ok

Fate Of Olivia & Opalite are the only cute tracks and then it ranges from decent to embarrassing

Nothing memorable and yes people will come for her lyrics when we are told non stop how good they are. :sabrina:

This album in NO WAY is better than Midnights or TTPD. Both of those included some career highlights, and the worse songs on those albums were mostly inoffensive, non-memorable pop but not bad per se (see Question or Glitch on Midnights as well as Cassandra or Robin on TTPD). The cringy lyrics on TTPD consisted of a few lines on a few otherwise quite good songs (IHIH, title track).

Sure, the production on TLOAS is tighter and the melodies are better compared to TTPD. Lyrically, Midnights and TTPD both ran circled around TLOAS. One or two genuinely great tracks (Ophelia and to a lesser extent Elizabeth Taylor, with Opalite also as a highlight but nowhere near Taylor's best work) with the rest of the album being just okay makes it pale in comparison to her two previous works. Also, none of them included Eldest Daughter which may be her most unlistenable song since Red.

EDIT: My inner Midnights and TTPD stan made me go on this tangent and I forgot to mention that yes, all of the above being said, the album is still overly hated. It's not great, but it's not the worst album released by any of ATRL's faves.

Some of the takes are fairly dramatic but I understand why people are dissatisfied with the final product.

And "good" generic pop? Oh girl no… this is far from Taylor's best pop moments. This album hasn't got a single track that touches the heights of Cruel Summer, Blank Space, Style, New Romantics… even Anti-Hero.

The closest we get (imo) is Ophelia… but that's honestly the only thing here I honestly enjoy.

I still find it perplexing so many of you guys think this is an improvement over poets… especially in terms of the writing.

I think the album fails in every aspect (writing, production, vocals are ok i guess), but so did TTPD imo. At least this one has some brighter songs that I can come back to, like Ophelia and Opalite.

I wouldn't say it's my favorite album by her, but 3 days in and it's definitely mid/high tier.

Elizabeth Taylor is probably my favorite song by her in YEARS, and fate of Ophelia and Opalite are so effortlessly fun.

I don't love the next section, but actually romantic onwards bring me back in and I can't think of any skips after that

Although I like a couple of tracks on it, I just wish the rest of the album was as good and solid as The Fate of Ophelia. When I first listened to Ophelia, I was thinking "Oh yes, she's back with the bops, this is the 1989 era all over again" but then, song after song, it kind of fell down a little bit like a soufflé... That being said, I enjoyed it more than Midnights and TTPD so that's a huge plus. And Ophelia is the proof that she can still write great Pop songs, she just needs to do it x12 on the next album.

It's not her best album, for sure, I wouldn't put it in her Top 5 but the people trashing it are definitely doing the most.

it's absolutely not better than Midnights or TTPD :rip: Obviously people can listen to/like whatever they want to but I hope those defending this album recognize that a song being catchy doesn't make it good

It absolutely is NOT better than "Am I The Drama?" either. Do you know what you're even talking about?

Let's just say if someone like Beyoncé or Gaga released this album, their career would be considered a joke there afterward.
