EDIT: lol this ended up becoming a much longer story than originally intended, apologies I had a crush on this guy, who I knew originally through one of my best friends (also a straight guy) as well as through his ex-girlfriend who I was also friends with and then later we also ended up working at the same company. Anyways, at the time we worked in city A while I was studying in city B, where I had an appartment shared with the aforementioned best friend. There was this big student festival party and so this coworker was also coming and as he was good friends with my roommate at the time, he was staying with us. I end up breaking up with my ex-boyfriend the night before this party. The day of this party, he was super supportive of me the entire day and we hung out the entire day (the party started at like 2 PM and lasted all day) at this festival and we drank quite heavily. Then, while walking to the afters (for context it was raining like hell and we were sharing this umbrella), he suddenly starts kissing me and we are making out in the privacy of this umbrella. Then we order an uber home and we keep making out on my sofa and once we were starting to progress to something more, he suddenly stops it and says he can't do it. We have a long talk after, where he basically just explains he's not that into guys after all. Mind you, he's still staying at our place and the next day we are supposed to go together back to city A for another big party and we had booked train tickets together etc. Super awkward for me but we actually had a pretty pleasant train ride back and also a pretty nice time at this party the next night. I was head-over-heels for this guy at this point and thinking that surely he's going to come around. After a few months of obsessing over him, we have this long talk at a bar where he tells me that he just has always pictured his life to include a wife and kids, and can't imagine a future with a guy. We have stayed actually quite close and I think the whole thing made us closer, I ended up visiting him when he moved abroad for work for a while, and we still share a lot of friends and he still attends my birthday parties etc. He also has a girlfriend and we have regular double dates with them together with me and my boyfriend, though neither my boyfriend or (I'm assuming) his girlfriend know about our rendevouz.

I am not a normal person when it comes to pop music and I could literally not tell you a single lyric or melody from My All, Honey or Vision of Love Idk if it's also about her success being so heavily US-centric but I just listened to the choruses of those songs and literally never heard of them lol I also think a lot of her catalog is so tied to such a specific era of R&B and vocal-driven pop which contemporary mainstream pop has moved away from while the sound of many of her contemporaries has (in my opinion) stayed closer to sounds that are still revisited/referenced in popular culture EDIT: Honestly no shade to Mariah, nothing against her, and not that I am the ultimate arbitror of whether her hits are remembered, but as a gay man who has hanged out in stan twitter and atrl for a decade with a fascination towards pop music and especially female artists, I feel like me if somebody should be aware of her hits I feel like I have a much better grasp on Celine's and Whitney's catalogs but idk

When you compare two people on Google Trends, the highest peak gets set to 100. Taylor's peak is 100. Rihanna's peak is 97. So unless math works differently where you are, Taylor had the bigger peak.

If it's an internal meeting, yeah, it can get annoying. however, there's nothing I love more than a nonsense, unnecessary meeting with a client especially if I'm not the lead and I get to just sit there and shut up. these are the easiest billable hours

I always find threads like this fascinating because they only really come from one of two places: either a resentment toward a wildly successful woman you'll never meet, whose career has no material impact on your real life, or an understanding that posts like this reliably generate reactions on ATRL and that online engagement fills some need for attention or relevance. Not sure which of those is sadder, but neither is exactly flattering.
