Is Robbie Williams massively underrated?

Featured Replies

Huge fan of Robbie.

I find it incredible that Robbie Williams never properly broke America and I'm starting to think that even in europe he's massively underrated.

He is one of those artists that most people in the U.K. think they know about but they have barely scratched the surface of his output.
He is wildly misunderstood as a person and very underrated as a song writer.
Most Brits vastly underestimate how popular he is internationally.

He is very talented, charming and real. He's had his struggles and came out the other end.

He should be the name that is on people's minds when we talk about the male pop greats, instead of Justin Timberlake. So I'm gonna say YES.

underrated? no. he was very successful for years and now he is not anymore. it what happens.

Maybe not underrated per se, after all he was huge (and not just in the UK), but from today's perspective, he and his discography and legacy definitely aren't getting the attention they deserve.

He absolutely is without a doubt.

He has so many great albums yet a lot of people would only know his (many) hits nowadays.

There's just some acts that are more Europe-centric in terms of a western fanbase and you won't see much talk about him in US-centric pop forums because of it. Also because he is a man lol. And that's fine, I think he still has a good fanbase in Europe, and he still tours Europe regularly while paying America a lot of dust (as he should).

I was recently making a 2000s music playlist and I was shocked how many great singles he has from that era. Like, truly pop/rock perfection song after song. And I found him pretty annoying when I was a kid listening to the songs on radio. :gaycat6: Feel is such an iconic, amazing pop. Ethereal, even.

Only if you're from a country like the US where he didn't really break through.

YES! The amount of incredible albums and smashes, the sex appeal (well, in the 00s at least), his performing skills. So many people missing out.

He was massive not just in the UK, his total worldwide sales is higher than many US-centric superstars despite a few people on here focusing on how USA is the biggest market in the world.

The artists that were massive everywhere except the US (Robbie, Anastacia, etc.) are kinda struggling now with their back catalogues on streaming but so are very US centric artists. I guess it always does pay out more if you're a globally successful artist.

What he struggles on streaming, he makes up with big touring

I think he always was too British to have US breakthrough. In EU and AUS he was always doing fine.

In my country his last hit was in 2017, hopefully his new album will have at least one smash.

They should give him the Australian citizenship already.

I don't like the disrespect he gets for being "cringe." :chick3: Like he's a nice guy that can laugh at himself.

When i was young i had a cd room with videos of Shakira, Avril,Britney,Xtina and Him
So he was the first male act i listened
i think he's definitely underrated. He has some great jams and he's pretty versatile
i also remember him havin a repeak in 2009-2010 and mtv pushing his videos all the time there... the one from a rabbit and the one from an airport graveyard and rudebox
He was also real sexy and i had a crush on him. I just find his career a bit strange........but he definitely deserves more love.
He's like the british justin timberlake? :gaycat1:

He's the male Kylie and I'd say they're both accurately rated in the regions they're famous in. They're basically at the same level as Madonna in terms of notoriety in Europe.

No he's not underrated. He used to skydive out of helicopters in to stadium shows. He was massive and he kinda trailed off and that's ok too.

I'm surprised he's considered handsome in England because here in America he's very peasant looking
