Gracie Abrams

          Gracie Abrams

A name that oftens comes to mind in many tasteful audiophiles' heads.  The singer (born September 7, 1999) is an American pop singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, California, and the daughter of the famous filmmaker and composer J.J. Abrams.

With an illustrious father, 3 songs on Soundcloud ('And She Will Miss You', 'blue' and 'I kinda miss you'), a label (Interscope Records) and a dream, her very first professionally released track 'Mean It' would be released in October of 2019.

Shortly after the SOTY's premiere, Gracie would release her very infamous Extended Play 'minor' on July 14th.

Meet minor. Hello.

This is Gracie's first EP! The short body of work is very consumable and is quite light. This is just her dipping into the music scene, so it's nothing too crazy, but it's still really solid and worth checking out. 'i miss you, i'm sorry' would become Gracie's very first big hit and a stepping stone for Olivia Rodrigo's 'driver's license'.

[Highlights: 'i miss you, i'm sorry' (gorgeous ballad), '21' (the sleeper hit of the EP), 'tehe' (bop.)

This fully co-written EP would give birth to multiple hits that would change the world forever. ('21', 'Friend' and 'I miss you, i'm sorry')

Gracie Abrams' discography would slowly expand with 'This Is What It Feels Like', 'Good Riddance' and 'The Secret Of Us'.

Meet This Is What It Feels Like. Hello.

The second EP, despite its album-like length (12 songs). Basically a more mature & expanded version of 'minor' with clearer & lush production.

[Highlights: 'Feels Like' (technically the title track), 'Camden' (one of the most vulnerable and cutthroat songs in Gracie's discography), 'Alright' & 'Painkillers' (2 ballad sisters, my favs)]

Meet Good Riddance. Hello.

The very first LP. The project is produced Aaron Dessner, the producer behind Abrams' godmother's AOTYs ('folklore' and 'Midnights'.)

[Highlights: 'Best' (one of the tracks Gracie allegedly regrets writing msotly due to the honesty present in the song..not that it's bad. Still listen), 'I know it won't work' (one of the most accessible tracks), 'Difficult' (an almost light-rock sound, a stanndout), '405' (one of the deluxe tracks, amazing bridge)]

Meet The Secret Of Us. Hello.

The sophomore album. This body of work features hits like 'Risk' (the lead single), 'I Love You, I'm Sorry', 'Close To You' (this one being the very first solo entry on Billboard Hot 100) and 'That's So True' (Gracie's first top 10 track on Billboard Hot 100 !).

[Highlights: 'us.' (features the godmother Taylor Swift herself, insane pengame.), 'I Told You Things' (a deluxe track with an insane bridge. A very very very diet mini version of 'All Too Well'.), 'Close To You' (originally a Soundcloud song, very Lorde-like.), 'Tough Love' (HIT. The hit that got away)]

Gracie Abrams also has a few collaborations with her friends, such as 'Everything, Everywhere' with Noah Kahan, 'Call Me When You Break Up' with Selena Gomez and 'Unlearn' with benny blanco.

Overall Gracie Abrams is an artist of many talents, however songwriting is her main element - the authentic & relatable, yet poignant and complex lyricism has already impacted so many lives of people of any ages, including her industry friends like Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo. The whisper-pop & acoustic sounds are what she excells in, but that doesn't limit her from making art of other genres. Don't underestimate the genius of Gracie Abrams, she's definitely got a few tricks up her (Long) sleeves.

This base is meant for discussions revolving around Gracie Abrams. I know she is not that well-liked here, but i still think that she could win some people over.

because she has no talent and gets pushed into the industry due to her fathers connections

I love Gracie. Good riddance is a SUPERIOR album. Fault line and right now are amazing. I've seen her live twice. She's awesome live

ATRL is the only place I heard about this woman, no shade to her.

Glad that the world is so connected and globalize now that we can ignore or choose artists we can listen to :date:

I think it just has to do with her music not being for a lot of people, she is a very quirky gal so she's a lil different from the rest of the main pop girls.
