I held out hope that this would get me back on the Lorde train after Solar Power, but after three singles, I think it is time for me to give up on Lorde. Maybe I'll still check out the album, because there are a few songs on SP I like and people will definitely be talking about it. But I'm disheartened because I remember when The Love Club came out and being so enamored with her art straight through to Melodrama, but her recent material is nothing but hollow.

this lyric gagged me bad it's so good and unique compared to what other artists in the scene are putting out, and the album will probably have even crazier lyrics

 

this makes me realize at Pitchfork etc ideally a woman should review this album instead of a misogynistic & biased x stan twink man to actually see the depths of it, ykwim

Really really really love hammer - it's weird structurally but I love the energy. Very runnable 

This album sounds lacklustre, all her previous albums were better. No melodies or hooks. The songs sound sparse in production and so short.

There are other possibilities of course, Gracie Abrams is on Friday night (she covered "Liability" at her recent Auckland show) and Charli XCX is on Saturday night. But I think a more likely scenario is an album release show in the US (perhaps in NYC) and she flys to London in time to get to Glastonbury and perform on Sunday night.

I keep hearing rumours about Lorde performing at Glastonbury next weekend, perhaps in one of the secret sets they have.

Does anyone have any inside info on this?

HAIM is another rumour, perhaps they could even do a combined set since she seems to be friends with the HAIM girls.

Otherwise I wouldn't be surprised to see her as a guest artist somewhere.

somehow this is shaping up to be even worse than solar polar which is something i never thought possible
