ijbol remember when Solar Power had no CD bc of her climate activism - she said F the planet for this album, we cheered!

  • new track in 3 days.

  • I believe Melodrama remains her magnum opus, but Virgin sounds absolutely incredible. It's the Lorde we know, yet it also feels incredibly refreshing. In Hammer, she mentioned, "I might be born again,

listening to the three singles back to back is such a gag and it gives you the sense of the album being AOTY so well :jonny5:

I feel like this album is gonna be groundbreaking. Solar Power was pivotal to me as well as Melodrama.

Biked home after the bar last night and it's so clear she made it for riding around the city at night. Especially Hammer! Hits particularly hard pushing against the breeze. Oh, Ella! You've done it again!

This is my most anticipated album this year and I just KNOW the LORDE will deliver :WAP:

ALLAHMMER is everything I wanted from the LORDE. Ha pen game is still UNTOUCHED :WAP:

I feel like thematically WWT doesn't make much sense right after Hammer?? But sonically it makes sense; the rhythm of the synths is actually the same in both, so flows nicely?

I've been reading a lot of comments saying that they feel like after hearing "Hammer" they can now understand Virgin better sonically, and that made them enjoy the other singles more

I don't understand how anyone isn't liking Hammer, it feels like Lorde's id to me. it's quintessential Lorde, it's a pop masterpiece to me :jonny5: this album is feeling like the logical successor to her first two albums to me, just very authentically her but not like a retread at all. listening to all these singles in succession now, I like how she keeps up that songwriting trope she's always loved of having a manic sounding vocal outro on Hammer and What Was That where it's suddenly new lyrics that kick in with a catchy beat. it reminds me of coming with my first songs when I was super young or not having people restrain me in orchestra rehearsal/private lessons from adding my own twists on passages with maybe a rougher intonation on my bow, like using a downbow where there's less rosin—I'm a classically trained bassist—and just going with it. it's very raw. these songs, Hammer and What Was That in particular, follow naturally from the source where Bravado stemmed from. Man of the Year has grown on me a bit but I don't think it'll be top tier of the album for me. regardless, I'm really excited to listen to the full thing :clap3: Hammer is a 10/10 for me, What Was That is a 9/10 for me

Definitely my fave so far :jonny: I just wish it was longer
